Food Patio
Tucked into the Fa Ham neighbourhood of Mueang Chiang Mai District, this open-air food court has earned a strong following among locals and visiting travellers alike for its broad selection of Thai dishes at genuinely budget-friendly prices. The casual, patio-style setting brings together multiple food stalls under one roof, making it a practical and lively spot to sample a range of Thai flavours in a single sitting. Diners can expect a relaxed, self-service atmosphere typical of a Thai food court, with stalls covering various dishes and the option to pay either by scanning a Thai mobile banking app or by loading credit onto a food court card purchased at the cashier. Food is generally served quickly, and staff are noted as friendly. It is worth noting that some visitors have raised concerns about food quality consistency and hygiene, so it is sensible to visit during busy meal periods when food turnover at stalls is highest and dishes are more likely to be freshly prepared. Good to know: Specific opening hours are not listed online, so arriving during standard Thai meal times — roughly 11am to 2pm for lunch or 5pm to 8pm for dinner — is the safest approach. Cashless payment via Thai banking apps is accepted, but travellers without a local bank account should top up a food court card at the cashier before ordering from the stalls.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
