Chiang Mai Breakfast Restaurant (SANEHA) ร้านอาหารเช้า เชียงใหม่
Tucked along Prapokklao Road near the edge of Chiang Mai's Old City, this dedicated breakfast restaurant draws a loyal mix of locals and visitors looking for a genuine morning meal in an unhurried setting. The atmosphere leans casual and unpretentious, with a charm that reviewers consistently describe as calm and local in character — the kind of place that rewards those willing to slow down and eat the way residents do. The menu covers classic breakfast fare with a local flavour, and standout items include a notably crispy baguette and well-made sandwiches with fresh herbs. While some items are priced slightly higher than typical street options, the food is considered solid and fairly priced overall. The setting itself is described as aesthetic, adding to the appeal for those who want their morning meal to feel like more than just a quick stop. Good to know: SANEHA opens at 8:30am every day of the week and closes at 1:00pm, so it suits early risers but leaves little room for late starters. Reviewers note that the restaurant fills up quickly after opening, so arriving early is strongly advisable to secure a table. Its location on Prapokklao Road makes it a convenient pairing with a morning walk through the Old City or a visit to nearby temples before the midday heat sets in.

Visitor Reviews
A nice local brunch café in Chiang Mai. The baguette was crispy on the outside , and the sandwich was even better with fresh cilantro. Simple, tasty food and a relaxed local vibe. I’d like to come back next time to try their porridge.
They said there was no chicken available, so I said it was okay. But when the food was served, it actually had chicken. The food was really good, and the place is very aesthetic. We also ordered Thai milk tea, which was very cheap
Nice breakfast place right in the heart of Chiang Mai with a lovely local vibe. The atmosphere feels calm and charming, perfect for a slow morning. Food tastes decent nothing outstanding but nicely presented. Prices are quite high for locals, though still reasonable for tourists. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot to enjoy breakfast and soak in the Chiang Mai city feel 🥘🍝

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
