Baan Buri Café & Restaurant
Sitting on the characterful Rachadamnoen Road within Chiang Mai's historic Old City, Baan Buri Café & Restaurant operates as part of the Buri Gallery complex, combining casual dining with a gallery setting that gives the space a creative, distinctly local character. The venue draws visitors throughout the day with a broad menu that spans breakfast, Thai dishes, and café fare — making it genuinely versatile regardless of when you stop in. The menu covers considerable ground, from Thai classics like Tom Yum Goong and Massaman chicken curry to Western breakfast plates, French toast, muffins, and fresh fruit shakes. The Thai-style iced espresso — strong, slightly sweet, and served over ice in a generous glass — has drawn particular praise from visitors. Food presentation is a notable touch, with dishes arriving with care. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere leans cosy and unhurried, making it a comfortable spot to linger over a meal. Good to know: Baan Buri is open every day of the week from 8:00am to 9:30pm, so it works equally well as a breakfast stop, a midday break from sightseeing, or a relaxed dinner option. Its position on Rachadamnoen Road puts it within easy walking distance of the Old City's temples and landmarks. For those wanting a quieter experience, earlier in the morning tends to be more relaxed before the day-visitor traffic builds. Visitor Reviews
Absolutely Loved This Place! We stopped by Baan Buri Café and were honestly surprised by how great everything was. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the staff are super friendly, and the service is quick and attentive. The food and drinks were fresh, tasty, and beautifully served. You can really feel the love and attention they put into every dish. The café has a really positive vibe, perfect for relaxing, grabbing a light meal, or just enjoying a good coffee break. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area, this place definitely deserves more attention. We’ll gladly come back again!
Baan Buri is both a café and a restaurant. The espresso 'Thai style', served with milk and sugar over ice in a large glass, is strong, slightly sweet, and ice-cold – a real find in Thailand! The muffin with soft chocolate chunks on chocolate sauce – here served with rosemary and two orange wedges – easily lives up to its name, "Chocolate Combo." The Thai service is good and friendly. The ambiance, with a touch of coffeehouse, exoticism, and Thai style – naturally, what else? – is somewhere between delicious, wonderful, and perfect. Sorry, couldn‘t resist to try before the shooting 😂
Loved the French toast—fluffy, lightly sweet, and not soggy at all. The American breakfast was hearty and filling, with well-cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and tasty sausages. A great choice if you’re craving a classic breakfast. The place has a calm ambiance perfect for a morning meal.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
