294 Bistro Chiangmai
Tucked along Ratchamanka Soi 6 in the heart of Chiang Mai's Phra Sing neighbourhood, 294 Bistro is an all-day dining spot that draws a loyal crowd for its well-executed Western and Thai dishes in a calm, unhurried setting. The menu spans breakfast through dinner, with standout options including avocado eggs Benedict, tomato bruschetta, and Pad Thai — dishes that visitors frequently return for specifically. The bistro has also built a quiet reputation for its matcha offerings, with a broad selection of milk options and a notably rich, full-flavoured preparation that sets it apart from typical café-style matcha in the city. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed, making it a comfortable choice for solo travellers, couples, or anyone looking to settle in for a long brunch without feeling rushed. Food quality and presentation receive consistent praise across visits, and the service is described as friendly, attentive, and prompt. One practical note: at least one visitor has flagged that prices at the till may run approximately 10% higher than those listed on the menu, so it is worth clarifying this before ordering. The bistro is open every day from 08:00 to 22:00, making it a flexible option for both early risers and those seeking a relaxed evening meal. No booking information is available, so arriving outside peak brunch hours on weekends may help secure a table more easily.

Visitor Reviews
We only stopped in for breakfast / brunch having passed by many times. So glad we did…👍😛! I had avocado egg Benedict and it was perfection for taste and presentation. My partner had Pad Thia Chicken, she said it was the best - I thought the presentation was the amazing for Pad Thai 😍. Clean, comfortable and modern decor, fabulous service and a reasonable price. Will try again for dinner in the near future. 😋🙏😎
Even tho it’s not specified as “speciality” they serve the best Matcha in CM! Solid, rich in taste and big choise of milk. Place is peaceful and calm! Highly recommend ✨
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and quick. A must-visit spot in Chiang Mai for a great meal.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
