The Family
Tucked along the riverside in Bangkok's historic Phra Nakhon district, this casual Thai restaurant has earned a devoted following among both locals and international visitors for its genuinely good food and characterful, warm-hearted service. The setting offers indoor and outdoor seating with views over the water, and the relaxed, friendly approach from staff gives the place a neighbourhood atmosphere that stands apart from more polished tourist-facing dining rooms in the area. The menu centres on Thai comfort food done well. The pad see ew with shrimp and the mango sticky rice draw consistent praise from repeat visitors, and the iced Thai tea is a frequent highlight in guest feedback. Prices sit firmly in the budget range, making it an easy choice for travellers who want quality and atmosphere without stretching their spending. A small but memorable touch: each table comes with a deck of UNO cards, adding to the unhurried, welcoming feel of the place. Good to know: The restaurant opens daily at noon and closes at 10 PM, fitting comfortably into both lunch and dinner plans while exploring the old city. It appears to be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so plan accordingly. The riverside outdoor seating is particularly enjoyable during the cooler months between November and February. Really cute place, the food was great!!!! Our food was a tiny bit late which we didn’t mind at all but 2 workers chased us after we paid and insisted on a partial refund because we waited which was really sweet Plus very good vegan options I had the tom yum which was absolutely delicious and iced black tea that was great as well
Best restaurant i ate in Thailand. I came 3 days in a row bringing my friends they all loved it. Pad see eu shrimp is incredible, and iced thaï tea 😍😍 and the staff is super sweet. You can also observe monitor lizard on the river
I was too full to appreciate the food but it was amazing regardless. The mango sticky rice was Spectacular - as well as the staff member that served me inside very polite.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
