Aonchorn Thai restaurant ออนชอน ราชดำเนิน
Tucked along Prachathipatai Road in Bangkok's historic Phra Nakhon district, this no-frills Thai restaurant has built a loyal following among both locals and travellers for its deeply flavoursome, authentic cooking at prices that are hard to match in the capital. Dishes like som tum, larb moo, gai yang, moo yang, and spicy salads are among the highlights, prepared with the kind of straightforward confidence that comes from focusing on food rather than presentation. Three dishes for under 200 baht is a figure that appears more than once in visitor feedback, making this a genuine budget-friendly find in a city where cheap eats are not always easy to locate. The dining environment is casual and unpretentious — expect a lively, somewhat chaotic atmosphere rather than a polished setting. Service speed and order accuracy can be inconsistent during busy periods, but the quality of the cooking consistently draws diners back. The restaurant opens daily from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, which means it comfortably covers breakfast, lunch, and early dinner without the limited windows of many local spots. Good to know: arriving during the late morning or mid-afternoon tends to mean a calmer experience and quicker service, as evenings can attract larger groups. The location on a central road makes it straightforward to reach by taxi or tuk-tuk. As no website is listed and payment methods are unconfirmed, carrying cash in small denominations is a sensible precaution before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
Delicious food at unbelievably affordable prices. Tried a number of dishes such as som tum, spicy salmon salad, spicy Korean chicken noodle, larb moo, gai yang and moo yang and everyone one of them were excellent. The staff were super friendly and service was fast. They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own. Highly recommended.
This place is the GEM!!! For anyone who doesn't care about the look of the place but only cares about the food. We had 3 meals for 200bht (les then 6€) at the moment. Food was delicious and stuff is so polite. Just one notice: they don't serve beer, but they allow you to bring your own.
Really good food here. Flavoursome, authentic Thai food. Would’ve had a dessert but a large group of noisy young backpackers came in towards the end of my meal ( obviously not the restaurants fault). Highly recommended!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
