Food Street Soi 38
Tucked into a basement space just 50 metres from Thonglor BTS station on Sukhumvit Soi 38, this compact food court delivers straightforward, authentic Thai cooking at prices that won't stretch any budget. It operates as a casual, no-frills dining spot anchored by two main Thai kitchens and several smaller stalls, drawing a predominantly local crowd that keeps the experience genuinely unpretentious. Visitors can expect a clean, informal setting where the focus is firmly on the food. Regulars gravitate toward dishes like stir-fried pork basil with egg, pork neck salad, grilled pork neck, and tom yum soup, while a dedicated satay stall out front draws repeat visitors. A mango sticky rice stall and som tum round out the offering, making it easy to put together a satisfying multi-dish meal without moving between locations. The atmosphere is relaxed and service is notably friendly, with seating available inside the basement area. Good to know: This is a cash-friendly, casual dining destination rather than a sit-down restaurant, so arriving with Thai baht on hand is advisable. The convenient location directly off the Sukhumvit corridor and its proximity to Thonglor BTS makes it an easy stop whether you are staying in the area or passing through. Dress is entirely casual, and the compact size means seating can fill up during busier meal times.

Ordered food from the right side furthest stall from the entrance The dishes: Stir Fried Pork Belly with Kale Pork Neck Salad Tofu omelette Stir Fried Pork Basil with Egg Grilled pork neck All of them were yummy, but the grilled pork neck & pork neck salad were my favorite 👌 For dessert, Sticky mango rice from the stall at the entrance. The lady was a pro, she peeled & cut mango super fast 👏 It was superb. Sweet mango, savoury sticky rice & coconut sauce were a perfect combination. I've been to this food court 3x already. But i will definitely visit it again on the next Bangkok trip
I totally enjoyed that spot close to my rented Condo with an array of local food offerings from a few stalls. I had Som Tum and Mango sticky rice the first night and Phanaeng chicken the next. I came tonight again for the Som Tum. Yummmmm. I like that dish and this is one of the best I had! All the food here is affordable and delicious. Highly recommended for local food with out the Farang surcharge…. 😁
Simple food court style in an underground basement area, 50m from Thonglor BTS. 2 main Thai kitchens + a few smaller stalls. Great if you simply want affordable tasty food. Service v friendly, but does take a few minutes as all freshly prepared.
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
