Late Night Talking Music Bar
Sitting on Charoen Muang Road in the laid-back Wat Ket neighbourhood, this music bar has carved out a niche in Chiang Mai's nightlife scene by putting live performance front and centre. The stage sits in the middle of the venue, visible from both the ground floor and an upper level, giving most seats a decent sightline to the action. Expect a mix of live bands and DJ sets on any given night, with visiting acts leaning toward Thai rock — established names from the local scene have been known to play here. The space is open and well-seated, making it suitable for groups as well as solo visitors who want to settle in for the night with a drink and some decent sound. Food is also served, and the kitchen has drawn positive mentions alongside the entertainment. That said, some visitors have flagged inconsistency with drink portions and food quality, so it is worth keeping expectations calibrated accordingly. The overall draw remains the music programming, which consistently earns praise even from those with mixed feelings about other aspects of the venue. Good to know: Opening hours are not listed on major directories, so it is advisable to check with your accommodation or contact the venue directly before making the trip. Wat Ket sits east of the Old City, a short ride from the main tourist areas, and Charoen Muang Road has dining options nearby if you want to eat before arriving.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
