Karon Night Market
Held twice weekly in the parking lot of Karon Temple, this neighbourhood night market draws a predominantly local crowd of Thai families and students, giving it a more authentic character than the tourist-oriented markets found elsewhere in Phuket. The relaxed, community-focused atmosphere is central to its appeal, with stalls selling a mix of clothes, souvenirs, and handmade items alongside freshly prepared Thai street food including noodle dishes and grilled snacks. The food offering is a genuine highlight, and visitors who time their trip to coincide with a Buddhist holiday may find vendors distributing free food to all attendees — an experience several visitors have singled out as memorable. The crowd tends to be unhurried and local in flavour, which contributes to the unpretentious feel, though some visitors have noted that the atmosphere can feel less welcoming than other parts of the island. Good to know: The market operates only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, though vendors typically begin setting up from around 6:30 PM. Arriving earlier helps beat the later crowds. The market is compact and can comfortably be explored in under an hour, making it an easy addition to an evening in the Karon area. Bring cash, as card payments are unlikely to be accepted, and wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking.

Visitor Reviews
I really enjoyed walking around the Karon Night Market, even though it was raining heavily! The market has a nice mix of stalls where you can find souvenirs, clothes, and handmade items — it’s a good way to support the local people. I also love bargaining, so it was fun to practice my skills there. The market isn’t very big, but it has a great vibe and is worth a visit if you’re nearby. You can try some tasty street food, buy a few small gifts, and just enjoy the atmosphere. It’s set inside the yard of a temple, so you can also take a short walk around and visit the temple while you’re there.
we went on “beginning of Vassa” holiday and it seems like the stalls are giving out free food for everyone! 90% people are Thai families and students, we had great Thai noodles there!
A night market open from 18:30 every Tuesday and Friday at the parking lot of Karon Temple. Walking around to see souvenirs, clothes and have some snack is a nice activity.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
