Coconut Market
Tucked away in the Fa Ham area of Chiang Mai, this weekend market stands out for its distinctive setting — a leafy corridor of coconut palm trees lining a small water canal, creating an unusually peaceful and photogenic environment that sets it apart from the city's more commercial markets. It draws a mix of locals and visitors looking for an authentic, unhurried shopping experience. Stalls throughout the market sell a range of coconut products, fresh produce, street food, handicrafts, and light snacks. The layout is tidy and well-maintained, with several cafes and food vendors woven between the shopping stalls. The atmosphere leans relaxed rather than hectic, making it easy to browse at a comfortable pace. The setting also offers plenty of natural photo opportunities without feeling staged or overly tourist-facing. Good to know: The market opens Friday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM only, with no weekday access. Arriving earlier in the day is strongly recommended — some food vendors begin selling out well before closing time, and the morning hours offer cooler temperatures and fuller stalls. Bring cash as smaller vendors are unlikely to accept cards, and wear light, comfortable clothing suited to an open-air setting. The market is reachable from central Chiang Mai and works well as a standalone weekend outing or a relaxed start to a day of exploring the city.

Visitor Reviews
This place is one of the most unique and relaxing markets I’ve visited in Thailand. Walking through endless coconut palm trees with a small water canal in the middle feels peaceful and beautiful. The atmosphere is very natural and not commercial at all. It’s perfect for slow walking, taking photos, and enjoying local vibes. You can find local food, handmade items, drinks, and even traditional ice cream stalls. One of the cutest moments was seeing a baby goat walking around freely — it really shows how friendly and eco-style this place is. This market is great for couples, families, and anyone who wants to experience something different from typical tourist markets. Very Instagrammable, calm, and authentic. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a hidden gem in Thailand. I would definitely visit again.
First time visiting this market. Fun fill with chic stalls. Love the vibes. Awesome food variety. Love how the coconut trees are well planted and constructed. Very neat and tidy. Lots of handicrafts stalls. I believe is a pet friendly market cause I saw a few family/ couples bringing their fur babies in stroller and harness. Oh. There’s a petting zoo area too. Top high light will Be the burnt coconut juicy/water is a must try. Super refreshing and delicious naturally sweet. I drove today and there were ample spots for car parking & motorcycles too. Many took the grab service as alternative. After the market we spent like almost two hours chilling here, we went down the street to a very cozy air conditioned cafe Cha tra mue / dim sum and dessert.
Coconut Market is a very Instagram-worthy place, with lots of charming photo spots and a relaxed atmosphere. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t too crowded, which made it easy to explore. There are plenty of locally made souvenirs and handmade crafts, so it’s a great place to support local vendors. One of the highlights is the small farm area with goats — fun for both kids and adults. There’s also live music and a good selection of food stalls, adding to the overall vibe. We loved the atmosphere and definitely recommend it for a laid-back weekend market experience!

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
