Bang Khla Floating Market
Tucked away in Chachoengsao province, Bang Khla Floating Market offers a genuinely local alternative to the more commercialised floating markets closer to Bangkok. Set along the river in front of the district office, the market centres on a busy river raft where vendors sell fish curries, Thai desserts, fresh seasonal flowers, and snacks at notably reasonable prices. A Thai massage spot near the entrance adds an extra layer of relaxation to the visit. The atmosphere here is unhurried and welcoming, drawing a mostly local crowd rather than tour groups. Visitors can browse food stalls from the riverbank or take a boat trip to explore the market from the water, which is widely regarded as a highlight of the experience. Food is the main drawcard, with plentiful options for eating on-site, though quality and seasoning can vary between vendors. A few practical points worth knowing: Bang Khla Floating Market is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 to 16:00, so timing is essential. Arriving earlier in the day gives visitors the best selection of food and a more lively atmosphere, as some stalls begin winding down in the afternoon. The car park is shared with the local police station. Signage leading to the market is limited, so using navigation apps is advisable. The market does not have a dedicated website, so up-to-date information is best sought locally or through recent visitor reviews before making the trip from Bangkok.

Visitor Reviews
This place was not included in our travel itinerary, and the way to it is not clearly marked. Following Google Maps, we found that it is on the river at the front of district office and the police station, with a spacious and convenient parking area. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon in early February 2025 when it wasn’t too crowded. The market is set on sturdy floating platforms, with well-organized and clean dining areas that are well-maintained. Overall, it is an impressive floating market.
Only open on the weekend, but if you get a chance to go, it is a 'must visit'! The food is amazing, the welcome is as you expect in Thailand, super friendly....and the boat trip is incredible - a full circuit of the 'island' including 2 temples....all for 50 Baht. Unmissable!
Visited about at 3 p.m. Sunday. This floating market has mostly food places. There were many good selections for eating. Thai massage place near the entrance.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
