Bambuh Boutique Homestay
Compare prices
Nestled in the Nang Lae district just a short taxi ride from central Chiang Rai, Bambuh Boutique Homestay offers a calm, nature-surrounded retreat that stands apart from the typical hotel experience. The property was designed and built by its Dutch owner, and visitors consistently note the care and craftsmanship evident throughout the architecture and gardens. Airy rooms come with private terraces, and the peaceful grounds create an atmosphere that feels more like a personal sanctuary than a commercial guesthouse. Guests can expect attentive, friendly service alongside a well-regarded breakfast served on-site. The homestay provides loaner bicycles, making it easy to explore the surrounding area independently — a popular route takes cyclists to the nearby Black House Museum (Baandam) and onward to a local waterfall, totalling around 18 kilometres. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The combination of thoughtful design, quiet atmosphere, and personal hospitality makes it a strong choice for couples and travellers seeking a slower-paced stay in the Chiang Rai region. For practical planning, Bambuh Boutique Homestay is located at 82 Tambon Nang Lae, a short distance from the city centre and within easy reach of Chiang Rai's temples and attractions. Given its small scale and consistently strong reputation, booking in advance is advisable, particularly during the peak cool-season months of November through February when the region sees the most visitors. Visitor Reviews
This is a very beautiful hotel, thoughtfully designed and built by the owner himself, who is from the Netherlands. You can truly feel how much care and hard work he has put into this land and the garden. The property features a few traditional Thai-style wooden houses alongside more modern buildings, and the blend is done with great taste. What I especially loved were the small details — the bamboo elements, the bamboo mirrors, the lighting, and the beautiful lampshades. Everything feels considered and warm. I also really appreciate the owner’s commitment to sustainability. There are no plastic water bottles; instead, drinking water is provided in quality reusable containers. This was a real highlight for us. We truly regret staying only one night — we could easily have stayed three. That’s why we highly recommend this hotel. The owner also provides free bicycles, which adds even more to the experience. You can really feel that this is a place created with a lot of thoughtful ideas behind it. Breakfast was also very nice, with freshly cooked pancakes, omelettes, and a good variety of choices. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
If you’re looking for a calm, peaceful retreat just a short taxi ride from the main town and temples, this is absolutely the place to stay. My wife and I truly loved our time here. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the care and intention behind this place — from the beautiful grounds, planted and nurtured by the owner himself, to the thoughtful details in every room and around the property. Everything feels personal, considered, and made with love. This is not a hotel, and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s a home stay in the truest sense, and it goes far beyond what you’d ever expect. The warmth, authenticity, and attention you receive here are rare. Even small touches, like the laundry service, free bikes, which was incredibly helpful, show how much the hosts genuinely care about their guests. This is without question one of the most beautiful home stays we’ve experienced, and we’re deeply grateful to the owners for sharing their home with us. We would return in a heartbeat.
Our stay was wonderful. Attractive, comfortable room with a terrific view. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was delicious. The grounds are peaceful and attractive. The best place to stay when visiting Chiang Rai. Using the free bikes was the ideal way to visit the Baan Dam Museum. All of our places we visited were excellent: Royal Villa and garden Arboretum (nice walk on the moss covered stone paths, and views. No longer maintained garden) Wat Phra That Doi Tung was impressive with the mountain view, near the arboretum, but that road is currently closed, so longer 20 minutes drive around the mountain.
