Ao Nang beach
Ao Nang Beach sits at the centre of one of Krabi's busiest coastal strips, functioning less as a traditional sunbathing beach and more as an energetic base for exploring the surrounding region. Longtail boats depart directly from the shore to destinations including the Four Islands and Phi Phi Islands, making it a natural starting point for day trips. The beachfront road is lined with cafés, restaurants, bars, and tour operators, giving the area a lively, well-serviced atmosphere throughout the day and into the evening. The experience shifts noticeably with the time of day. Mornings are quieter and well-suited to a leisurely walk along the promenade that runs parallel to the beach. By evening, the atmosphere picks up considerably, with fire shows, beachfront dining, and the steady movement of longtail boats on the water providing plenty to take in. Visitors should be aware that the sand is on the coarser side and boat traffic can make swimming less practical than at nearby islands, so many travellers treat Ao Nang primarily as an evening destination and departure point rather than a place to swim or sunbathe. Good to know: The dry season running from November to April offers the most reliable weather and calmest sea conditions for boat trips. Those sensitive to noise may want to avoid peak hours when motorboat activity is at its highest. Tour operators are plentiful along the beach, though comparing prices and booking through accommodation can sometimes offer better value.

Visitor Reviews
Ao Nang beach is a clean, relaxing beach with a road running parallel to it, lined with plenty of beachfront cafés and shops just across the street. The soft sand makes it perfect for a peaceful stroll or for playing around during low tide, and there’s convenient street parking nearby. You’ll also find a few swings hanging from the trees, adding a charming touch to the atmosphere. Though it isn’t a white-sand beach, it’s kept tidy and offers a great mix of chill vibes and activity. The water is inviting for a swim, and the area naturally draws interesting people from all over the world. Sunsets here are especially breathtaking. Be sure to catch the fire show around 6 PM it’s free, but the performers rely on tips and truly earn them. While I didn’t spot any changing rooms or toilets, the experience is still well worth it. You can also hop on a boat to Raleigh Island from the far end of the beach.
A dark sand beach. Very popular among tourists with many bar and restaurants. There are shows happening in the evening as well. The sound of dozens motorboats is annoying so it's better to avoid peak time. Good for swimming and drone flights.
This beach is a pleasant spot, particularly for spending the evening. During the day, there wasn't much activity, and unfortunately, it rained for most of Nov 24th, limiting what we could do. The atmosphere later on was good, especially with the fire shows. The shows were entertaining and a good effort, but the coordination between the performers and the music was visibly lacking. Overall, a decent place to relax and enjoy the night.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands
Check Monsoon Seasons
The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia
The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
