Chiang Mai Footsteps Travel
Chiang Mai Footsteps Travel is a tour operator based in the Phra Sing area of Chiang Mai's Old City, specialising in small-group trekking and cultural experiences across the Chiang Mai region. While the company offers walking tours of the city, its multi-day jungle treks are a standout offering, taking travellers into the surrounding mountains for a combination of hiking, waterfall swimming, visits to Karen villages, elephant sanctuary experiences, and overnight stays in the jungle complete with communal meals and campfires. Guides including Witoon, Toon, Chad, and Sammy receive consistent praise from visitors for their enthusiasm, attentiveness, and ability to create a welcoming group atmosphere. Treks are described as easy to moderate in difficulty, covering roughly 8 kilometres per day, making them accessible to reasonably fit travellers without requiring specialist experience. The multi-day format — with one and two-night options available — allows for a more immersive experience than standard day tours. The office is open daily from 07:00 to 21:00, giving travellers flexibility to enquire or arrange bookings across most of the day. Booking in advance through the company website is advisable, particularly during the peak season between November and February when demand for trekking tours is highest. Prospective visitors should check the website for current tour options and pricing, and confirm any fitness or dietary requirements with the team ahead of departure.

Visitor Reviews
We’ve just finished a 1 night and 2 day jungle trek in Chiang Mai - and wow, what an amazing experience! From start to finish the trek has been fantastic - our guides Toon and Chad were amazing and had so much knowledge about the jungle, and they were so much fun to be around. We got picked up from our hotel then taken to a little market where we could get drinks/snacks, then went on to start our trek. We walked to a beautiful waterfall where we stopped for lunch and had chance to swim, then continued walking to another waterfall where we had another chance to swim and relax. We then walked a few more kilometres to our camp for the night. The accommodation was very clean and had amazing views over the jungle! On the second day we started with a lovely breakfast of eggs and fruit, then continued our trek to another waterfall. After that we went to visit an elephant sanctuary, then had lunch followed by bamboo rafting. I can’t recommend this trip enough - it has been a highlight! Thank you so much for making it such a memorable trip!
We did the 2 day 1 night trek with Sammy, Rony and the team. It was a great experience and had a good amount of hiking (~8km per day) plus the activities. We were really looked after and the food was great. The accommodation is basic but had beautiful views and is part of the experience. We really enjoyed the village we stayed in and the locals were so welcoming. The bamboo rafting was really fun! A visit to an elephant sanctuary is also included where you can feed and bathe with the elephants. However we would have been happy to just watch the animals rather than interact so closely with them. Overall I’d really recommend this experience, it’s great value for money given how much is included.
3 Day, 2 Night Jungle Trekking Tour - This tour was amazing! Highlights include the elephant sanctuary and the incredible scenery. Many awesome waterfalls and nature sights to be seen. We were concerned that the trek might be difficult for our 12 year old but it was at a comfortable pace and the trails are very manageable. There are many opportunites to buy water along the way. The accomodations were rustic but very comfortable, and all the meals were great! Special thanks to our quide Witoon who made the experience very memorable, he was very friendly, funny and helpful and had many interesting insights about the area and wildlife.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
