Banzaan Fresh Market
Banzaan Fresh Market operates across two floors on Nanai Road in Patong, offering one of the more distinctive food experiences in Phuket. The ground floor functions as a traditional fresh market, with stalls selling live seafood, fresh produce, and local ingredients. Visitors select what they want to eat from the market below, then carry their purchases upstairs to the food court, where multiple cooking stalls prepare the seafood to order in a variety of styles. Beyond seafood, the upper floor also serves a wide range of authentic Thai dishes, making it a solid option for those wanting to explore local flavours beyond the standard tourist restaurant circuit. The atmosphere is informal and busy, drawing a genuine mix of locals and visitors. It leans more towards an everyday market environment than a polished dining venue, which is part of its appeal. Prices are more affordable than most beachfront restaurants in Patong, though visitors should be aware that bargaining is expected when buying seafood downstairs, and it pays to stay attentive to pricing before committing. Arriving earlier in the evening generally means better seafood selection and a less crowded experience. Cash is strongly recommended, as not all stalls accept card payments. Comfortable, casual clothing suits the open, warm market environment. Stall quality can vary, so it is worth taking a moment to look around the upper floor before choosing where to have your seafood cooked.

Visitor Reviews
Banzaan Fresh Market in Patong is definitely a must-visit. It’s one of the most enjoyable places to explore and taste a wide variety of local food and drinks. You can sample so many different flavors and discover authentic local products all in one place. I personally went especially for the fruit stalls and loved it. You can buy any fruit individually, which makes it perfect for trying new things without committing to large portions. It’s a great spot if you want to taste local specialties and explore Thai flavors. The stall owners are also very kind and helpful to tourists, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Patong!
I like this night market, better than Bangla Night Market. I could see more local people there. As many people commented on the seafood, I just focus on suggesting other authentic food. There I can find the most delicious banana roti with moist tender dough. It seems a bit expensive but its size is bigger than other booths offer. The condensed milk was already included in the banana egg roti. Of course you can also add Nutella. But remember to give the money to the man who cooks them and tell him your appreciation. He is so friendly!
This place is amazing! You pick out your own live seafood downstairs from the market, then bring it upstairs to the foodcourt to be cooked. Lots of food stalls with different menus to choose from. We did lobster, prawns, and scallops. Also had a few other thsi dishes and some Singha beer of course. Be sure to negotiate a little for the price of the seafood from the downstairs market. Lots of locaks were eating here. Definitely check it out.
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
