Bang Pae Seafood Restaurant
Tucked away on the eastern side of Phuket in the Thalang district, this waterside seafood restaurant draws a loyal following of both locals and repeat visitors for its relaxed setting and genuinely fresh cooking. Diners can watch the tide roll in and catch the sunset from the open-air venue, which sits in a calm, unhurried corner of the island well removed from the busier resort areas. The kitchen leans into what the surrounding waters provide, with standout dishes including soft shell crab, fried anchovy-style fish, and fresh coconut served with soft flesh. The menu reflects straightforward Thai coastal cooking where ingredient quality does the heavy lifting, and the value for money is a consistent highlight among those who make the trip. Takeout is available for those who prefer a more casual option. Good to know: Bang Pae Seafood sits off the beaten path in a local residential area, so arranging transport in advance is advisable — a map app or a recommendation from your accommodation will help navigate the quieter backstreets. The restaurant is particularly atmospheric at dinner when the tidal views and fading light add to the experience, and weekends can draw a crowd, so arriving early is a practical move to secure a table without a wait.

Visitor Reviews
We did takeout here last night and didn’t get to properly thank them or tell them how great this food was - but it was spectacular. While we were ordering and waiting the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, and the restaurant is in a beautiful location, so it seems like it would be a great dine-in experience too. But no matter where you eat it, the food is wonderful - incredible ingredient quality and flavor. The prices are extremely reasonable given the types of seafood on offer, and they offered us a slice of coconut pie that was one of the better desserts I’ve tried. Thank you Bang Pae!
Great value for money.....their speciality seems to be what they catch around that area like soft shell crab, anchovy like fish fry, mango smoothie, coconut water with soft flesh which can be craved with the spoon, leaves the tongue like a melted natural jelly....
Bang Pae Seafood is a favorite for us in Phuket, we go every time we spend time in Phuket. A bit off the beaten path on the eastern side it is quiet and the sea is calm. The food here is fantastic and it is a great place for lunch and dinner.
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
