Sunset View Pai
Perched above the Mae Hi area on the outskirts of Pai, Sunset View Pai draws visitors as much for its sweeping panorama of Pai town and the surrounding mountain ranges as for its kitchen. The setting is quiet and unhurried, with a relaxed atmosphere that regulars return to evening after evening. Friendly owners and a welcoming environment make it equally suitable for solo travellers, couples, and families passing through the region. The food holds its own well beyond the views. The menu spans home-cooked Thai dishes and Western options, with visitor favourites including chicken coconut soup, garlic pork, cashew chicken, sticky rice, and noodle dishes that draw particular praise for their texture and freshness. Local vegetable stir-fries also appear regularly in positive feedback, reflecting a kitchen that leans into regional ingredients. A practical note for those planning a visit: the restaurant opens daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, covering both lunch and dinner without any weekly closures. Arriving around 6:00 PM is widely recommended by visitors who want to secure a good seat before the sunset draws a crowd. The address places it in the Mae Hi area outside central Pai, so it is worth confirming directions with your accommodation or using GPS coordinates to navigate there, particularly if travelling by scooter for the first time.

Visitor Reviews
Sunset view offers AWESOME, home-cooked Thai cuisine with an amazing view of the sunset. Come here around 6pm to snap the best seats! We ordered the Chicken Coconut Soup, Garlic Pork, Local veg stir fry and the omelette and was blown away by how homely it tasted. We come from Singapore and found that it tasted so much better than the Thai cuisine at home! ❤️ The owner, a lady is also fluent in English and Chinese, making ordering a breeze. There are 4 lovely doggos in the restaurant - while they bark and look fierce, they are actually very kind and lovely! The restaurant is slightly far from the city centre, but located near the white Buddha. Parking is available right outside the restaurant and is free. Come to Sunset view for great food and great views!
Absolutely amazing experience! Couldn’t recommend this place enough. I came to eat at Sunset View almost everyday evening to catch the sunset. Besides the incredible views and quiet, chilled atmosphere, the food was unbelievable, clean and delicious with many vegetarian options. The cashew tofu veggies dish was my personal fav, as well as the pineapple fried rice and the wide noodle dish. The owner is a sweet lovely lady, I really miss her and regret I couldn’t come to say goodbye (so if you’re reading this - this the girl from Israel who came every day almost in November!). Thank you so much, hope to to be back soon 🙏
Delicious Thai food! I thought this would be one of those places where you only go for the view, we decided to eat there anyway and what can I say: the cashew chicken was so flavorful the sticky rice perfect and the curry tasteful as well. Will come back for the food, the friendly staff and obviously: the view.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
