Earth Tone
Earth Tone has built a loyal following among both visitors and returning travellers in Pai, drawing people in with its wholesome, fresh-focused menu and unhurried atmosphere. The restaurant leans toward health-conscious, ingredient-led cooking — think smoothie bowls, omelettes loaded with avocado and cheese, veggie plates, and salads made with sprouts grown on-site. The banana chips with guacamole and house-made kombucha are among the crowd favourites, and gluten-free diners tend to find it one of the more accommodating options in the area. Beyond the food, Earth Tone doubles as a small retail space where visitors can browse and purchase products to take home, including handmade soap and cacao goods. The setting suits Pai's relaxed pace well, and the combination of generous portions, mid-range pricing, and consistently friendly service helps explain why many guests make it a repeat stop on every trip to the area. Good to know: Earth Tone operates from 9am to 4:30pm daily, so it serves breakfast and lunch only — there is no evening service. This makes it well suited to morning starts or a midday break between activities. If you plan to visit during peak tourist season, arriving earlier in the day is advisable to secure a table. Check their Facebook page for any menu updates or seasonal changes before heading over.

it was incredible as usual. just noticed I didn't put a review during my past visit. we had bowls, good portion and so yummy. the banana chips with guacamole are awesome. the kombucha is good too. my dad had thai green tea, super super good. very good to relax and eat. paradise for vegan and vegetarian.
Wonderful food. Friendly staff. Good location. Huge and I mean huge portions. There is also lots of wonderful items to buy and take with you. The soap is lovely and the cacao mass is a treat everyday from Pai on my travels around Thailand. Thanks for the great food 🙏🏻
Incredible! I’m gluten free & this was some of the best food I’ve had in Thailand. The smoothie bowls are delicious & we heard good things about the waffles (we will HAVE to come back to try). The staff are very friendly & the owner is lovely. Thank you.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
