Laemcharoen Seafood Central Chiangrai
Laemcharoen Seafood is a recognised Thai seafood restaurant chain with a branch conveniently situated inside Central mall on Phahon Yothin Road in Chiang Rai. As part of an established chain, it brings a wide-ranging menu to the northern city, with dishes spanning multiple seafood categories to suit different tastes and group sizes. Visitor highlights include the fried garlic sea bass, shrimp tempura with tamarind sauce, and yellow curry seafood with rice — dishes that have drawn consistently positive feedback for their authentic Thai flavour. The restaurant offers a comfortable, air-conditioned dining environment within the shopping mall, making it a practical choice for travellers already visiting Central Chiang Rai. The menu is well-organised and extensive, catering to those who want to explore a variety of seafood preparations in one sitting. Pricing sits at a mid-range level, which some visitors consider on the higher side given the mall setting, though most find it reasonable for the quality and portions on offer. One practical note for visitors: some reviewers have experienced longer-than-expected wait times for food, even for smaller orders, so those with limited time should factor this in. No website or confirmed opening hours are currently listed, so it is worth checking directly with the mall or calling ahead before making a special trip.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
