Phuket Seafood
Standing out as a notable seafood destination in Chiang Mai — a city far from the coast — this restaurant sources live seafood that reviewers consistently praise for its freshness. Highlights include lobster sashimi, mantis shrimp, crab, and raw prawns, with the live tanks being a key draw for diners who treat freshness as non-negotiable. The kitchen handles both raw preparations and stir-fried dishes, giving the menu enough range to suit different preferences. It also caters to halal diners, broadening its appeal to a wider range of visitors. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with ample seating and friendly staff noted by multiple visitors. It works well for groups and food tours, and the variety of seafood on offer makes it a viable centrepiece for a longer evening out. Prices run higher than typical Chiang Mai restaurants, which is worth factoring in, particularly for larger orders of premium seafood like lobster or crab. Good to know: Opening hours and contact details are not readily available online, so it is worth checking locally or asking your accommodation before making the trip out. The address places it along a canal-side road in the Chang Phueak area, so having a map or ride-hailing app on hand will help. Arriving with a clear sense of budget is advisable given the pricing, as live seafood costs can add up quickly depending on what is selected from the tanks.

Visitor Reviews
Amazing place, fresh and delicious seafood, lots of seating, good atmosphere, kind owners! - The seafood is really fresh and so good! They were really kind and friendly too. We ordered the raw prawn, but they had taken the heads and fried them up so we could enjoy all of it with no waste! It's a huge place, great for kids to also play! They're currently renovating for bigger tanks. Really awesome place all around, a little on the pricer side for Thailand maybe, but totally worth it!!! They were really thoughtful too, as they saw me having a hard time from the spice and gave us some water.
The seafood is the best in Chiang Mai. The lobster sashimi is the freshest. The crabs are so tight and sweet! And the most impressive thing is that they could make stir-fry dishes like home! A must-go. Kids could also enjoy themselves with the fun playground.
Aside from the higher-than-expected prices for Thailand we enjoyed the live seafood feast! This was my first live seafood meal when I landed in Chiang Mai, would also take guests as part of food tour itinerary. Enjoyed the lobsters (both sashimi and steamed), whole crab curry, squid sashimi, shrimp and prawns. I passed on fried rice but everyone said it was yummy! The most interesting part of my first meal at Phuket Seafood was the Lobster Jelly served with 7up (or maybe sprite). Ask about when you’re there 😉
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
