CMBC Chiangmaibarcompany
Once a fixture in Chiang Mai's Old Town and now relocated to the trendier Nimman neighbourhood, this bar has built a loyal following among both expats and travellers for its authentic dive bar atmosphere with a distinctly hipster edge. The venue is known for its carefully curated music, with resident DJs spinning vinyl and a sound system that delivers serious volume without overwhelming the relaxed, social vibe. Thoughtful interior design, air conditioning, and a generous seating area out front make it a comfortable spot whether you want to dance or simply soak up the atmosphere. The drinks menu keeps things straightforward and affordable, with Thai beers, shots, and buckets on offer. Happy hour runs until 8:30pm and offers three beers for 199 baht, making it one of the better-value options in the Nimman area. A pool table rounds out the offering for those looking to settle in for the evening. Good to know: Several reviews mention that the bar closed its doors as of February 2025, so it is strongly advisable to verify whether the venue is currently operating before making a visit. Ask at your hotel or check with locals in the Nimman area for the latest status, as no website or published contact details are available to confirm directly.

Visitor Reviews
Coolest bar in CNX! Great vibe, chilled, nice decor and a great DJ and super punchy sound system. The place has a hipster vibe and loads of seats out the front too so you can still hear the sound system. I came on my own twice and different tunes and music each time but all quality hip hop, house, disco and electronic. Best music I’ve heard in Thailand so far🔥 🎵 As someone from London, this reminds me of somewhere in Shoreditch. The music was class! 🖤
New location for CMBC! I was here two years ago, and the DJ vinyl is still good. The Nimman location is even better. Great pricing during happy hour until 8:30—three beers for only 199 baht, nothing better than this with good music. Loving it for the five-star review.
This was the coolest dive bar in Nimman, with the best music. The DJs brought authentic Western dive bar vibes. Unfortunately, as of February 1st, they had to close down. It’s a huge loss for the neighborhood! 🥺😭
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
