The Bamboo Bar
Nestled within the historic Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, The Bamboo Bar is one of the city's most enduring nightlife institutions, drawing both hotel guests and discerning locals for an evening of live jazz, blues, and expertly crafted cocktails. The colonial-style interior strikes a balance between elegance and warmth, creating an atmosphere that feels sophisticated without being stuffy — intimate enough for conversation, lively enough to feel like a real night out. The drinks programme leans into creativity, with signature cocktails incorporating local Thai ingredients such as kaffir lime, alongside a curated selection of mocktails for non-drinkers. Light bites including cheese boards, meat boards, and potato skins round out the offering, making it a viable spot for a leisurely evening rather than just a quick drink. The bar also hosts regular guest bartender takeover events, which bring fresh, seasonal menus and a particularly energetic atmosphere. On Fridays and Saturdays, the bar stays open until 2:00 AM, making these the most popular nights to visit for the full live music experience. Dress code leans smart casual to smart, in keeping with the hotel's luxury positioning. Given the bar's reputation, reservations are worth considering on weekends, especially if attending a featured performance or special event.

A true Bangkok institution. Went for a birthday drink with my bestie.
My partner and I had a wonderful evening here. The staff are polite and helpful, the cocktails delicious, the cheese board, meat board and potato skins is better than anything else you can get in Naeba. 10/10, definitely recommend
The bar is classy, has a cozy atmosphere. I ordered mocktail. I love that taste, so special. Not too sweet and scents is nice. They use special ingredient from Thailand. Like Kaffir lame. It’s a key ingredient in Thai cruisie. 🥰

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
