TAX
Tucked into the Pom Prap district of Bangkok, TAX has carved out a genuinely distinctive niche in the city's cocktail scene by building its entire concept around insects. The menu draws on various species as both flavour inspiration for its cocktails and as actual snacks served alongside them — think refined bug pairings rather than the deep-fried market variety. It is an unusual premise executed with evident care, drawing curious bar-hoppers and adventurous drinkers who tend to leave impressed by the creativity on offer. The atmosphere leans soothing rather than rowdy, with attentive staff and a music selection suited to conversation. The cocktail programme is the main draw, and the team is noted for being approachable and happy to guide guests through the menu. While most visitors find the drinks well-crafted and distinctive, a small number have found them not entirely to their taste, so arriving with an open mind and a willingness to ask for recommendations is worthwhile. Good to know: TAX sits on Thanon Maitri Chit, a street with nearby dining and drinking options that make it a natural stop on a Pom Prap bar crawl. Specific opening hours are not published online, so it is worth checking ahead before making a dedicated trip. The area is reachable by MRT, making it straightforward to connect from other parts of the city.

Visitor Reviews
The core of this place is… insects🦋 Yes, you heard that right! But the insects here are different, ( and also with classic cocktails ) They are not the greasy fried insects you see at the market 😄 If you like to learn or try new things, you must give yourself a chance to try the insect cocktails here, a good welcoming and the cocktail recommendations are quite friendly and polite. Most importantly the bartender he is knowledgeable about cocktails (with insects that have been processed in a hygienic way), The name of the place, the interior design, and the main characters “insects” go a long well without any doubt (if you already understand the life cycle of insects). My own experience after trying the insect cocktail was… I felt lightning bug touch my tongue! :)) It took me back to my childhood, The cold in the dark forest, but made me feel warm and surprisingly safe! Each person's personal experience may vary. Just Remember….drop yourself and pay your TAX here. 👻💀💵🎞️🌑🥂
Definitely unique cocktails with menu inspired by various type of insects. They also served them as side dish. If you are doing bar hopping in the area, I would recommend this place as one of the stop. A something to try... insects. The place is spacious with both table and bar seating. Personally I like the bar counter as you can see all the actions.
So a friend said will I eat insects? Actually I have done it before. It is not top of my list but I can. So off we go to Tax. Very soothing surrounding with super nice staff and music you can listen and chat to. Yes I had several kinds of insects and larvae along with my delightful drink. Be brave and give it a try.
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
