BROWN SUGAR
Tucked into Bangkok's Pom Prap district, Brown Sugar is a well-established live music bar and jazz club with a reputation built on consistently strong performances. Resident bands cover jazz, soul, and pop, drawing a loyal mix of locals and visitors who come primarily for the music. The multi-level space features a mezzanine with balconies overlooking the main floor, giving it an intimate, characterful atmosphere that holds up well into the night. Food and drinks are available alongside the live performances, with mid-range pricing keeping it accessible for most travellers. Service draws positive feedback across reviews, and the overall vibe is casual and welcoming without losing energy. It works equally well as an after-work drinks stop or a proper evening out built around the music. Good to know: the atmosphere and lineup can vary depending on the night, with weekends typically bringing a livelier crowd and stronger performances. The venue sits near Nana, making it reachable by taxi or BTS from central Bangkok. Specific opening hours are not listed online, so it is worth confirming ahead of your visit, particularly if planning a weeknight trip.

Visitor Reviews
I really liked this jazz club and would definitely come back. The music was incredible and easily the best part of the experience. The drinks were good, although a little light for my taste, but the kombucha was excellent. The vibe was great, with a slightly speakeasy atmosphere that made the place feel special. Good energy, good sound, and an overall very enjoyable setting. I would definitely recommend coming here, especially on a night when Jayson Creer is playing. He seems to be a resident on Saturdays, and it is absolutely worth it.
I have been there last Sunday night. It was soooooooooooo wonderful time to enjoy their music. Everything was so smooth we feel really thanks for all staff (including the music brand) Wish to enjoy your music again soon! Thanks a lot for giving wonderful experience!
We arrived a little later than planned and were seated next to the food elevator. we jumped seats as soon as we could! the band was fantastic, incredible musicians and performed many classics. Beer was cold (a little expensive but there is no cover charge, fair enough). I recommend Brown Sugar for a night out but eat before you go, our meals were the only disappointment.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
