Wat Karon
Set along Patak Road in the Karon district of Phuket, this open-air market operates on Tuesdays and Fridays from midday until 10pm, drawing both locals and tourists looking for affordable shopping and snacks away from the pricier beach-front stalls. The market sits within the grounds of Wat Karon temple, giving it a neighbourhood atmosphere that feels a step removed from the more heavily commercialised tourist zones nearby. Visitors can expect a mixed selection of vendors selling colourful handicrafts, clothing, spices, and local street food. Those with adventurous tastes may encounter a stall near the exit selling edible insects including scorpion, water bugs, silkworm, and crickets. Clothing for children and adults is available, and vendors are generally open to negotiation, though a respectful approach tends to yield better results. Food options vary by visit, so expectations are best kept flexible. On a practical note, the market is modest in size and works well as an add-on for anyone already spending time at Karon Beach rather than a standalone destination. Arriving in the early evening tends to offer the best combination of cooler temperatures and a fuller range of stalls. Prices here are generally more reasonable than those closer to the beachfront, making it a worthwhile stop for budget-conscious shoppers.

Visitor Reviews
This is a must do if you're in Phuket. We found really good quality clothes for our kids. Vendors do negotiate but dont push them. Its a good market with a wide variety of things to buy. Prices are reasonable.
Scorpion, water bug, silk worm, bamboo worm, grasshopper and crickets . I had them all .☺️ Look out for her just near the exit. She is very warm.
Not really that small as others have reviewed, but it's popular with the crowd. The food prices are very decent compared to if you go further downwards, closer to the beach areas, which are more expensive. You can't enter the Wat but still can take some nice photos. Take care not to destroy or dirty the area.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
