Boat Avenue Night Market
Held every Friday evening in the Choeng Thale area of Thalang District, this popular night market draws a relaxed mix of locals and visitors to its sprawling collection of food stalls, clothing vendors, and craft sellers. Positioned within the Boat Avenue retail precinct, it sits a notch above the typical tourist market — reviewers frequently note the presence of genuinely original handmade items and crafts not commonly found elsewhere in Phuket, alongside a varied selection of both Thai street food and Western dining options. Live music adds to the atmosphere on busy evenings. The vibe is lively but unhurried, with vendors described as welcoming rather than pushy. Food is the main draw, with stalls preparing dishes to order alongside sit-down restaurants within the surrounding area. Crowds can build significantly as the evening progresses, reflecting the market's strong local following as much as its appeal to tourists. Good to know: The market runs Fridays only, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Arriving closer to opening time gives the best pick of food and a more manageable crowd. Most vendors operate on a cash basis, so carrying small Thai baht notes is advisable. Comfortable shoes are practical given the amount of ground to cover.

Wonderful market with plenty of local Thai street foods. You can also get lots of Western foods and many great restaurants. We went to Kenny Rogers Roasters and had a delicious roast chicken meal and bottle of red wine in their AC dining lounge. Well worth having a place to eat and drink while you do your shopping rounds.
A very good night market. There are so many food options, both stalls and restaurants, and I found souveniers that I hadnt seen anywhere else. A bit more upmarket than your average night market. Recommended.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
