ร้านอัมพิกา Aumpika Stationery Store

4.2(23 reviews)

Aumpika Stationery Store is a practical, go-to stop for travellers and residents in Pai who need everyday supplies that can otherwise be difficult to track down in this small northern town. Notably, it appears to be one of the few places in the area where visitors can purchase yoga mats, and the store carries a reasonable range of art supplies including watercolour paints, brushes, and paper — useful for creatively inclined travellers passing through. Beyond art materials, the shop stocks general stationery, markers, and electronics such as power banks, making it a useful all-rounder when supplies run low on the road. Staff have been described by visitors as warm and helpful, though experiences can vary depending on the day. The store is compact but covers most basic stationery needs reasonably well for a town of Pai's size. A practical note for shoppers: some visitors have reported receiving faulty pens and encountering a strict no-refund policy, so it is worth testing items such as markers before purchasing where possible. The store is open seven days a week, with weekday hours starting at 07:30 and weekend hours from 08:00, closing at 18:00 each day. Arriving earlier in the day gives more time to browse and ask staff for assistance locating specific items.

Visitor Reviews

Wow! Thought it would be way worse. Came to find water painting, brushes and papers and I did find what I looked for. The sellers were warm and helpful with all my questions and requests. In my country I would pay x3 than this store. You can find here all the equipment you need for Pai. Glad I found this place and exactly what I wanted ✨ Thank you 🙏🏻

The only place where you can buy yoga mats. They also have a lot of beautiful stationery: glitter markers.

Pretty much everything you might need stationary wise in Pai.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
