Kadmanee Market
Tucked into the Hai Ya neighbourhood south of Chiang Mai's old city, this nightly evening market draws a predominantly local crowd and offers a noticeably different experience from the more tourist-heavy night markets elsewhere in the city. A central pond and fountain surrounded by string lighting give the space a calm, pleasant atmosphere after dark, with dedicated seating areas that invite visitors to slow down rather than simply pass through. Food is the primary draw, with stalls serving northern Thai street food, grilled skewers, and everyday dishes at prices that reflect local rather than tourist-oriented rates. Clothing, accessories, and general goods are also available, though eating and socialising tend to dominate the mood. Most vendors speak limited English, but the market is easy to navigate and the atmosphere is consistently described as friendly and unhurried. Good to know: The market opens daily at 4pm but reaches its full stride from around 5pm onwards, when food stalls are fully operational and the crowd builds. Cash is advisable as card payments are not widely accepted. The market sits close to Central Airport Plaza Chiang Mai, making it a natural addition to a visit to that area. Comfortable shoes are recommended for wandering the outdoor stalls, and a light rain jacket is worth carrying during the wetter months.

Visitor Reviews
A much better place than some of the night markets in Chiang Mai as this is less touristy. The pricing are very decent. The place is clean and ambience is great. You can sit like a local and enjoy your food against the fountain there. Grilled food, pizza, Thai food, sushis etc. Everything is there minus the tourist crowds.
I came across on my walk towards Central Airport Chiang Mai. Since it was afternoon, and this market is starting later afternoon, it was pretty empty with still some stalls already open. I can just imagine what a lively place that is around later afternoon/evening.
A nice market located south of the old city square, but still walkable! We were recommended to go and it was a quaint little market with dedicated seating around a pond/fountain. There’s also string lights and decor throughout that adds to the overall ambience! 🐘✨

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
