Chaweng Noi Beach

4.4(213 reviews)

Tucked along Koh Samui's eastern coast, this beach draws visitors looking for a calmer coastal experience without straying far from the conveniences of nearby Chaweng. The water is generally clear and the sand reasonably soft, making it a workable spot for swimming and sunbathing away from the heavier foot traffic of the island's main beaches. Day passes are available at adjacent resorts such as Fair House, which typically include a lounge chair, towel, umbrella, and pool access for around 500 Thai Baht — a practical option for those who want a more organised beach day. Expectations are worth calibrating before visiting. While many visitors find the setting genuinely pleasant and uncrowded, some note the occasional presence of sea lice in the water, which can affect swimming comfort for a few days at a time. Cleanliness has also drawn mixed comments, with some visitors observing litter along the shoreline. The beach is best suited to those who value a quieter setting over pristine resort-style conditions, and its proximity to Chaweng means restaurants, shops, and nightlife remain easily within reach. Good to know: The dry season running from December to February offers the most reliable conditions for swimming and sun. The monsoon season, roughly May to October, can bring rougher seas and reduced visibility. Reef-safe sunscreen is recommended given the marine life in the area, and water shoes are worth packing as rocky patches can appear in shallower sections.

Visitor Reviews

This was our favorite beach. Easy access right down the adjacent road next to the Fair House Resort, you can buy a day pass that includes a lounge chair, towel, umbrella & pool access for Baht$500.00/each, administered by the Fair House. Other beach front locations available as well up & down the beach. It was clean, quiet & not overly crowded. Affordable prices, but adds up fast during a long, hot ,humid day! Can snorkel right off the beach as well. Very picturesque with epic rock formations at either end of the beach. Unlike many beaches, the sand is mostly smooth & walkable. Just a great atmosphere. Very similar to Chaweng & Lamai.

It's a great beach, if you manage to be there while there are no sea lice. The sea lice will though pretty much ruin the otherwise great atmosphere. Luckily that was only so for three days of our two week stay, and I have no clue how common those are elsewhere in Koh Samui. The water is beautiful and the beach is really not at all crowded. Which is amazing, since this island is pretty much full of tourists in all other places. Most of them are probably not leaving their nice resorts.

A Slice of Paradise at Laem Ka Noi Beach Today, I discovered the true meaning of tranquility at Laem Ka Noi Beach in Thailand. This hidden gem offers a perfectly quiet and serene escape. The crystal-clear waters are absolutely stunning, inviting you to relax and soak in the beauty. The sand is incredibly soft underfoot, and the peaceful atmosphere is simply blissful. It’s the ideal spot for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy Thailand's natural beauty in quiet solitude.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands

Check Monsoon Seasons

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.

Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy

Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.

Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia

The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
