Bangrak Beach

4.3(283 reviews)

Situated in the Bo Put area on Koh Samui's eastern coastline, Bangrak Beach offers a noticeably quieter alternative to the island's more heavily visited shores. The stretch is lined with restaurants, making it a pleasant spot for a leisurely walk combined with a meal, and the bay delivers attractive views — particularly in the early morning or at night. The laid-back atmosphere draws visitors looking for a slower pace away from Koh Samui's busier tourist zones. That said, prospective visitors should go in with realistic expectations. Reviewer feedback points to some cleanliness concerns in the sand and water, and the seabed has been described as uneven, with submerged rocks that are difficult to spot. The water quality falls short of what swimmers might hope for, and the beach is widely regarded as one of the lesser swimming spots on the island. It is better appreciated as a scenic coastal walk or a place to sit and enjoy the bay views than as a primary beach destination. For the most enjoyable visit, arriving in the early morning avoids the midday heat and makes the most of the beach's calmer, quieter character. The dry season running from December to February generally brings the most favourable weather conditions. As formal facilities information is limited, visitors staying outside the Bo Put area should arrange transportation in advance.

Visitor Reviews

Quiet and relaxing different vibe. Less people more nature. Water less rubbish but not the best beach on samui for sure. Beautiful vibe an scenery

super scenario on the bay .. but the beach is little messy and the shore has several areas very tiny .. great view of the bay in the night ..good for early morning walk

A lovely beach walk, with plenty of restaurants dotted up and down it. It was very windy while we were there so we didn't go swimming in the water but wandering up the beach was pleasant. I will say that the hackers that walk up and down the beach can be a bit pushy though, we had the same person pass us a few times & each time they tried to sell us something we didn't want or need.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands

Check Monsoon Seasons

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.

Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy

Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.

Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia

The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
