View point
Perched in the hills of Bo Phut district on Koh Samui, this viewpoint draws visitors seeking sweeping panoramic views across the island and surrounding waters. It sits along a ridge where several viewpoints are clustered together, so it is worth confirming the specific location before heading up, as photos online are sometimes taken from neighbouring spots along the same range. A waterfall is also reportedly located along the route, adding an extra point of interest to the journey. Visitors can reach the summit on foot — a walk of roughly five to ten minutes depending on fitness — or pay to ride a cart up or down for those who prefer an easier ascent or descent. The path comes with some effort but no serious technical challenge. It is worth noting that some visitors have found the immediate surroundings lacking in upkeep, and comparable views can be found at other points on the island, so managing expectations is sensible. For those arriving by car, the approach from the south side of the island is the more straightforward route. The northern approach involves sandy uphill roads that may present difficulty for standard vehicles. The viewpoint is listed as open around the clock, making it an option for those hoping to catch sunrise or sunset views, though visiting during daylight hours is the practical choice for making the most of the scenery.

Visitor Reviews
This may be the review you are looking for. First of all, many of the pictures people are posting aren't for this viewpoint. There are several viewpoints scattered along this range and the place where this Google pin is actually an abandoned lookout, but one of the best views. I read a lot of fear-mongering reviews that mention that you might die if you aren't a good scooter rider, and then others saying it's no problem. There's even one guy who posted a screenshot of the exact route I took, 3 weeks before this review, and he said a river has washed it out and you can't take this route. That is totally not true. Maybe he was high or made a wrong turn, but I didn't see anything like that. The fact is that it is paved (although in dire need of resurfacing} all the way up except for some sections that are dirt, but even the dirt is mostly hard packed from hundreds of other bikes. I went through 2 maybe 3 small sections of loose dirt, and they're aren't on turns, so you go straight and you're fine. If I have to explain to you that you use your back brake way more than your front, maybe don't do this trip. I made it up on my beat up 200 baht old Honda Click 125cc rental scooter with 2 bars of fuel and had no problem at all. There are locals that live along this road and they ride scooters that are made out of toothpicks with their whole family riding on it passing me uphill. Yes, there are some ruts, but they are avoidable. If you aren't sure you can drive in a straight line then this might not be the road for you. Just practice driving along a painted line in the road and as long as you stay within a foot or so on each side, you should be fine. I'm glad I didn't give in to fear as it was a great ride and an actual adventure, something that isn't totally easy to find on an island known for relaxing. It is a worthwhile challenge and you can do it. If you are new to two wheeled vehicles, don't do it. If it's pouring down rain then yeah, skip it. And if somehow you do crash or die or something, I take no responsibility this is just my experience.
Koh Samui Viewpoint is an absolute **must-visit** when on the island! The breathtaking panoramic views alone are worth the trip, but the experience gets even better with a stunning **waterfall** along the way—perfect for a refreshing dip or some amazing photos. There’s also a **lovely café** where you can relax, enjoy a cold drink, or grab a bite while soaking in the incredible scenery. For adventure seekers, the **zip line** adds an exciting thrill to the visit, making it fun for all ages. Whether you're a nature lover, an adrenaline junkie, or just looking for a peaceful spot with a view, Koh Samui Viewpoint has it all. **Highly recommended!** 🌴✨
We went here with a Peugeot 3008, no real challenges to speak of when coming from the south side of island. You might have issues with going from the north as you have drive uphill on sandy roads. Some places the ground clearance is very low and we did scrape the bottom of the car. It was a dry day, but there was a bit of rain coming the day before. But if you are skilled driver you should have no difficulty driving up to top.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
