Kham MaeNam Kok Bridge
The Kham MaeNam Kok Bridge spans the Kok River along the Chiang Rai bypass road, connecting Ban Hong Ao in Doi Hang Subdistrict with Ban Pa Ao in Mae Yao Subdistrict. Beyond its function as a road crossing, it serves as a natural vantage point over the river and sits along a route that leads toward notable landmarks including Wat Huai Pla Kang and the Ban Du intersection, making it a convenient stop for travellers already exploring the wider Chiang Rai area. Visitors note that the bridge is particularly atmospheric at dusk, when the setting sun casts warm tones across the sky and the Kok River below. The surrounding scenery lends itself to quiet moments and photography, and the location has drawn both locals and passing tourists looking for a straightforward viewpoint away from the city centre. It is worth noting that some visitors have observed litter in the area, including discarded bottles and waste left behind by others, which can detract from the experience. Those who appreciate the setting are encouraged to visit in the early evening to catch the best light over the river. As there are no confirmed opening hours or facilities listed, this is best treated as a casual stop rather than a planned destination, and visitors should be prepared for a simple, undeveloped outdoor setting.

Visitor Reviews
Beauty of the Kok River Bridge at Dusk The Kok River Bridge at dusk is a sight to behold, capturing the essence of evening tranquility and beauty. As the sun sets, the sky is painted with hues of deep blue and orange, creating a stunning backdrop for the bridge. The ornate street lamps lining the bridge illuminate with a warm, golden glow, casting a serene and inviting light on the road below. The reflections of these lights on the water add a magical touch to the scene, enhancing the overall ambiance. Vehicles moving steadily across the bridge contribute to the dynamic yet peaceful atmosphere, symbolizing the bridge's role as a vital connector in the region. The combination of the gently glowing lights, the tranquil water below, and the fading daylight creates a mesmerizing and picturesque view, making the Kok River Bridge an iconic and cherished landmark during the evening hours.
The bridge across the Kok River, located on the Chiang Rai bypass road between Ban Hong Ao, Doi Hang Subdistrict, and Ban Pa Ao, Mae Yao Subdistrict, leads to Wat Huai Pla Kang and the Ban Du intersection, which leads to Mae Fah Luang Airport in Chiang Rai. It's another beautiful bridge and a great rest stop for travelers to admire the stunning natural scenery along the Kok River. The atmosphere in the evening is very beautiful, perfect for a relaxing break. During low water levels, there might be some people sitting and having drinks. Parking is available on both sides of the river. You can walk or jog for exercise, but be careful of cars. Things to watch out for include sharp glass and metal shards scattered around the area.
It's a nice place, we were tourists and felt it was okay. But the condition is that there's trash everywhere, beer bottles and other waste littered the area after people have drunk from them. I wish the locals would clean up after themselves. The place itself is great, it just needs people's awareness and responsibility.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
