Sirithan Waterfall
Sirithan Waterfall sits along Highway 1009 in the Chom Thong District, passing through the Doi Inthanon area of Chiang Mai. It functions as a natural roadside stopover rather than a destination hike, with a short paved walkway leading down from the parking area making it accessible to most visitors, including those travelling by motorbike. The setting is forested and peaceful, offering a cool atmosphere and the sound of cascading water without requiring significant physical effort to reach. That said, visitors should arrive with calibrated expectations. The waterfall is smaller and less dramatic than nearby Wachirathan Waterfall, and a viewing platform keeps observers at some distance from the falls, which can limit photography opportunities and prevents swimming or wading. Water volume varies noticeably by season, and some visitors have found the experience modest during drier periods. The site has also been subject to temporary closures, so conditions can change. Good to know: Sirithan is best visited during or shortly after the rainy season, roughly June to October, when water flow is at its strongest. It works well as a quick stop along a broader Doi Inthanon itinerary rather than a standalone excursion. No advance booking is required, but it is worth confirming current access conditions with local accommodation before making the trip, as closure periods have been reported. Comfortable walking shoes are sufficient given the paved path.

Visitor Reviews
Visited Sirithan Waterfall as part of a tour. Distance from the waterfall: The viewing platform is some distance away, which can make it challenging for photography. Limited view: The view of the waterfall can be partially obstructed by trees and bushes. Challenging trail for getting close: While there's a small dirt path to get closer to the waterfall, it's described as extremely steep and potentially dangerous, especially in wet conditions.
This waterfall is temporarily closed. The Sirinathan waterfall is cool, not was big as Wachirathan waterfall and you can't get as close to it as you can at Wachirathan waterfall. Plus you can only see the Sirinathan waterfall from a viewing deck, that's surrounded by trees.
This is one of the quieter waterfalls situated along the highway 1009 that runs through Doi Inthanon. The waterfall is only a short walk down the stairs from the parking lot. Makes a nice stopover if you're on your way down after hiking at the summit.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
