Pata Zoo Company Limited
Perched on the roof of the Pata department store in Bang Phlat, this zoo occupies one of Bangkok's more unusual settings, reached via a glass elevator that passes through the largely vacant lower floors of the building — an experience visitors frequently describe as surreal. The facility houses a range of animals alongside reptile and snake shows, split between open rooftop areas and air-conditioned indoor sections, with a full visit typically taking around two hours. It is primarily aimed at families with children looking for an accessible half-day activity in central Bangkok. Prospective visitors should approach this attraction with clear expectations. Animal welfare concerns are a recurring theme in visitor feedback, with repeated observations about the living conditions of larger animals, particularly primates. These concerns are longstanding and substantive, and travellers with strong views on captive animal welfare standards are advised to weigh them carefully before visiting. Entry is priced at 300 baht per person. Good to know: No official website or published opening hours are currently listed, so it is strongly recommended to verify operating times before making the trip. The surrounding department store building is reportedly undergoing ownership changes, and conditions on the lower floors may vary. The rooftop setting means significant sun exposure is likely, so bringing water and sun protection is advisable. Checking recent visitor reviews before going will give the most accurate picture of current conditions.

Visitor Reviews
Pata it's actually an old department store and there are news that the owner is going to renovate the building itself so at the moment the ground floor is available only and also the Pata zoo that's still opening. I think it's really hard for me to make a decision to rate this one, the zoo itself would probably open for more than 30 years and I believe most of the Bangkokian must have visit this place at least once a lifetime. Even though the popularity of the zoo is decreasing and the decoration is becoming old-fashioned and also needed maintenance. However I can see those animals been treated fairly and in a good shape that evidently those animals I still alive and well. For me I think that shows care and good intention from the owner on this zoo, and worth coming for a visit. Entry cost: Adult THB 120 / Children THB 80 Tips: - Weekends and holidays are best to visit - parking around the building best, there are also parking lot in the building available. - Use the lift from ground floor to seventh floor - There are exotic animal show, please check with the gatekeeper for the schedule
Entrance is 300 bth, zoo itself it's located on roof of old shopping mall where you will get by glass elevator seeing inside of posapocalyptic interior :). Well I think zoo it's nice it's just missing the aspect of greenery in cages also cages are quite old some of them faking apart I think they do care of animals, you can see it they have young as ones. It's not the best zoo in the world but it's worth to try at least you gonna support it by your visit !
Pata Zoo is getting better . easy going trip in the middle of Bangkok. 1 hour on rooftop + 1 hour in air conditioning zoo, reptile & snake show. good for kids

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
