Suan Sati Yoga Retreat Center
Nestled in the rural Mae Wang district outside Chiang Mai, this dedicated yoga and meditation retreat centre draws practitioners of all levels seeking genuine transformation in a peaceful natural setting. Open rice fields stretching toward the mountains create a quietly beautiful backdrop, and the centre's strong community atmosphere is frequently highlighted by visitors as central to the experience. Programs are structured around morning and evening yoga classes, with optional sessions available between, and instruction covers both physical practice and meditation. The teaching team is a consistent standout, praised by guests for being knowledgeable, authentic, and genuinely welcoming to newcomers and experienced practitioners alike. On-site food receives equally enthusiastic attention, making this a well-rounded retreat rather than a yoga-only facility. The overall environment is designed to feel safe and supportive, with an emphasis on personal renewal and community connection throughout the stay. Good to know: Suan Sati operates as a retreat centre rather than a drop-in studio, so advance booking is strongly recommended to secure a place on the program of your choice. The location in Mae Wang is rural and not easily accessible by public transport, so arranging a private transfer or rental vehicle from Chiang Mai city before arrival is advisable. Prospective guests should review the available program lengths and formats in advance to choose the option that best suits their experience level and wellness goals.

Visitor Reviews
The retreat was truly magical. The setting — open rice fields stretching out toward the mountains — was something my eyes simply couldn’t get enough of. There was a quiet beauty everywhere you looked. The food was incredible — a rainbow of colours and Thai flavours every day, prepared with so much care. It felt nourishing in every sense. The activities were thoughtfully curated: different styles of yoga (not usually my favourite, but I genuinely fell back in love with the way yoga was offered here — and thank goodness it wasn’t Ashtanga!), breathwork, sharing circles, mindfulness, and some free time to simply be. I loved lying in the hammock listening to the birds, reading, and letting myself slow down. I came back feeling deeply rested and rejuvenated. And of course, the community — places like this seem to attract a certain kind of open-hearted, thoughtful people, and I’m so grateful for the connections that were formed. Highly recommend to anyone looking to reset, reconnect, and soak in beauty.
Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Very organized and structured yoga classes with optional sessions between the am and pm classes. All instructors were incredibly talented and instructed on options for alternative postures and the use of props if needed. I stayed in the single housing unit and it was very clean and comfortable. The meals were incredible-never a hungry moment! The group was from all over the globe and we bonded over the week we were there. Can't say enough about the love, sweat and tears that Will and Lisa put into making this a phenomenal experience. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in trying yoga, improving an existing practice and getting away to a quiet respectful environment for personal growth.
🦋THIS IS YOUR SIGN, do yourself a loving favor and come to Suan Sati. It’s hard to put into words how amazing of an experience this was for me, and for everyone who participated to this retreat. You will meet such amazing people. As mentionned many times in the reviews, the food was absolutely fantastic, probably the week I ate the best in my life, and you just feel so nourished and healty too. You can really shut your mind off and let the teachers guide you the whole time during the day. This is a truly healing place, where you feel held and heard, I would recommend it to anyone that crosses my path 🍀✨
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
