Royal Phuket City Hotel
Situated on Phangnga Road in the heart of Phuket Town, this mid-range hotel places guests within easy walking distance of the historic Old Town district, nearby temples, and the popular Sunday Walking Night Market. Higher-floor rooms offer city and ocean views, and the property includes an on-site restaurant serving breakfast, with staff noted for being courteous and helpful. For travellers seeking to explore authentic Thai culture and local street life rather than beach resort areas, the central location is a practical advantage. Rooms are described by guests as clean and reasonably spacious, though the decor leans dated relative to the price point in deluxe categories. The hotel caters to a range of travellers, including solo visitors, with the surrounding neighbourhood considered safe and well-served by local dining, markets, and transport options including taxis and tuk-tuks. The property also functions as an event and convention venue, so the atmosphere can vary depending on what is taking place during a stay. Good to know: This hotel suits cultural travellers more than those prioritising beach access, as it is located in Phuket Town rather than coastal resort areas. Visiting between November and February offers more comfortable conditions for exploring the surrounding streets and temples on foot. When visiting nearby religious sites, covered shoulders and knees are required out of respect for local customs. Smoking is prohibited in rooms.

Visitor Reviews
Excellent stay at this hotel, close to sunday night market and very nice views from the rooms of phuket town. Excellent breakfast every day, 2 nights here amazing breakfast. We are vegeterians and seemed to be the only vegans in a fully booked hotels full of east asian and european tourists, the chef cooked vegan spring rolls just for us and vegan dishes at breakfast. Also no mest dishes for dinner I also was a little sick on my first night here due to some street food and the chef was kind enough to send the best congee i have ever tasted in my travels across asia. The best part was very less indian tourists hardly 1-2 ,almost everyone else was chinese, korean, jap or european/american. That made our experience even better. We also got 1 free coconut water per person per day for our duration of our stay. Lovely hotel.
The hotel is located in Phuket Town, with plenty of good places nearby. I was travelling solo, and the location felt safe with good amenities. The staff were kind and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. If you get an upper-floor room, you can even enjoy a sea view. They also have a 7-Eleven vending machine within the premises, along with an in-house restaurant, which is very convenient. The gym and swimming pool are also fairly good. Overall, a pleasant stay. I would recommend, especially for solo travellers.
Booked for a day only but Everything was perfect about this place. Room: was at 14th floor, Serene view of the city & ocean. Smoking is prohibited, a must know. Service: Staff courteous, the room safe had setting issue which they resolved immediately. Didn't even ask for any security. Breakfast: Ultimate buffet, loved it. Location: Best to roam around Old Phuket, where the vibe is ecstatic and city is both peaceful & lively. Verdict: Extremely happy for the price.
Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
