Vida Mandala Workshop & Art Gallery
Vida Mandala Workshop & Art Gallery is a creative retreat in the Mae Nam area of Koh Samui, where visitors learn the meditative art of mandala dot painting under the guidance of artist Vida. Equal parts art studio, gallery, and calm escape from the island's busier attractions, it draws travellers looking for something more personal and unhurried than typical tourist activities. Sessions are led by Vida herself, whose teaching style is consistently described by visitors as warm, patient, and encouraging. Beginners are fully catered for — guests are guided through the basics of dot painting step by step, and the relaxed atmosphere means even those with no artistic background leave with a finished mandala they are proud of. The experience is also noted as suitable for children, with at least one visitor bringing a six-year-old who thoroughly enjoyed it. The workshop typically runs for around an hour, though the immersive nature of the process means time passes quickly. As no website or booking platform is listed, prospective visitors should plan ahead by reaching out directly or visiting in person to confirm availability and session times. The address places it along Soi Wat Naphalan in Tambon Mae Nam, a quieter part of the island best reached by scooter or taxi. Given that sessions appear to be run by Vida personally, booking in advance is advisable, particularly during peak tourist season.

Visitor Reviews
My girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Vida Mandala workshop in Koh Samui. From the moment we started, we completely lost ourselves in the process and forgot about time and place while creating our mandalas. Vida made the experience truly special. She is kind, funny, incredibly talented, and very supportive throughout the whole workshop. She explains everything with patience and encourages you to trust your creativity, no matter your experience level (We were total beginners). We left feeling calm, happy, and proud of what we created. I can wholeheartedly recommend this workshop to anyone visiting Koh Samui who wants a break from the regular sightseeing experiences.
Today I attended a master class by Vida, and it was a truly beautiful experience. Vida is an amazing woman and a master of her craft — kind, attentive, and deeply caring. She explained everything with patience and supported us throughout the entire process. Her studio is very cozy and filled with a sense of calm, peace, and warmth. It was my first time drawing a mandala, and I’m amazed by the result. I absolutely loved the experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart — I will definitely come back ☀️🫶
The workshop was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was welcoming and inspiring, and Vida was incredibly creative and patient. We learned the basics of dot painting and had fun to explore our creativity in the process. There was unlimited coffee and loads of smiles. We highly recommended to do this. Also a great bonus is you get to keep the tools so you are able to use your newfound skill at home.
Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
