JINLU RESTAURANT
Jinlu Restaurant brings authentic Chinese cuisine to the heart of Chiang Rai, drawing diners who seek out Cantonese, Shanghai, and Hong Kong-style cooking adapted with subtle nods to local Thai tastes. The kitchen has built a strong following among both locals and visiting travellers, with standout dishes including soup dumplings and a range of traditional Chinese preparations that hold up to scrutiny from those familiar with the cuisine. Inside, the restaurant offers a comfortable and attractive dining space that sits a step above the casual end of the scale, making it suitable for a relaxed meal or a more considered dinner outing. Portions are generous and pricing is considered reasonable for the quality on offer, which gives it broad appeal across different budgets. The menu caters to those craving a genuine Chinese dining experience rather than the adapted versions commonly found across northern Thailand. Good to know: Jinlu is open every day of the week from 10am to 10pm, so there is no need to plan around rest days or limited evening hours. The late closing time makes it a reliable dinner option after a full day of sightseeing in Chiang Rai. The restaurant also has parking available on site, which is worth noting if you are travelling by rental car or scooter. The Facebook page listed on their profile is the best place to check for any menu updates or seasonal changes before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
Excellent Authentic Chinese Cuisine in Chiang Rai! If you're craving authentic Chinese food in Chiang Rai, Jin Lu (จินลู่) is definitely the place to go. We had a wonderful dining experience here and were impressed by both the quality and the variety of the food. The Food: Every dish we ordered felt authentic and was made with high-quality ingredients. The flavors are well-balanced—nothing felt too greasy or overly seasoned. From the delicate dim sum to the rich braised dishes and perfectly cooked stir-fries, you can tell the chefs really know their craft. It’s clear they stay true to traditional recipes. Vibe & Service: The restaurant has a great atmosphere for a meal with family or friends. It's clean, spacious, and features the classic round tables that make sharing a meal so much fun. The service was friendly and efficient, with the food arriving at our table hot and fresh. Overall: A fantastic spot for anyone looking for a "real deal" Chinese meal at a reasonable price. Whether you’re a fan of spicy Sichuan flavors or comforting Cantonese-style dishes, this place won’t disappoint. I’ll definitely be coming back!
New Cantonese/Shanghai /Hong Kong Chinese style restaurant, slightly adapted to local Thai tastes. Plenty of inside parking, nice restaurant. I ordered the soup dumplings, which were great. The gyoza were okay and the stir fried chicken and cashews was delicious. There are several green veggie dishes to try, too. Nice experience will be back to try more.
Excellent place to have a fine dining. The taste is authentic Chinese cuisine. Please visit when you come to chiangrai

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
