The Summer House
Set along the river in Ayutthaya, The Summer House has grown from a specialty coffee roaster into a well-rounded café and restaurant that draws both locals and visitors passing through the ancient city. The in-house roasted coffee remains a highlight — the Rum Resin Latte is frequently praised by returning guests — but the menu now extends well beyond drinks, offering a solid range of Thai dishes, Thai fusion plates, and Western options alongside French pastries and desserts. The atmosphere is one of the restaurant's strongest suits. Guests can choose between air-conditioned indoor seating and an outdoor garden terrace overlooking the river, making it a natural stop for those looking to unwind after a day of temple-hopping. Signature dishes lean toward Thai fusion, with standouts like fried gourami with rice and gourami in sour soup, though the broader menu ensures there is something for most tastes. The setting is generally relaxed and unhurried, particularly on weekdays. On the practical side, The Summer House is open daily from 09:30 to 21:30, giving it flexible hours that suit both morning coffee visits and sit-down evening meals. Parking on-site is limited, so those arriving by car on weekends may find spaces in short supply. Checking the restaurant's Facebook page before visiting is advisable, as menu availability and seasonal offerings can vary.

Visitor Reviews
“Good food heals the soul.” The flavors are bold and shout-worthy.Even though it’s a Thai fusion restaurant, the authentic Thai taste truly stands out. Every dish is delicious from the appetizers and main courses to the desserts and drinks. It’s especially lovely at sunset, perfect for sipping wine in the evening. The prices are reasonable, and it’s definitely worth checking in. #ควรค่าแก่การเช็คอิน
- Visited on a weekday for chilling before heading back to Bangkok. - Ordered only some desserts. - Not crowded and quiet. - Limited car parking, not sure about availability on weekends. - The riverside view was quite nice, with a breeze blowing, not hot (at 5 P.M.), and relaxing.
Wonderful cafe and restaurant by the river. It’s best known for coffee roaster but has become a full-fledged eatery. Great vibes and good food with lots of options both Thais and fusion food. Desserts are also very good. Highly recommended!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
