ศีคราม Sikram
Tucked along Naresuan Soi 2 in the heart of Ayutthaya's historic district, this well-regarded Thai restaurant draws consistent praise from both local diners and international travellers for its welcoming atmosphere and carefully prepared food. The cosy, thoughtfully decorated interior creates a relaxed setting that suits a leisurely meal between sightseeing stops at the city's famous temples and ruins. The menu centres on classic Thai dishes executed with care. Standout options noted by visitors include the river prawns, pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, and pad krapao — with spice levels adjustable to preference. The kitchen also offers a solid range of vegan and vegetarian options, making it a practical choice for travellers with dietary requirements. Portions are considered generous, and dishes are well presented. Staff are consistently described as attentive, warm, and helpful, including with menu explanations for those unfamiliar with Thai cuisine. Sikram opens at 9:00 AM every day except Wednesday, closing at 8:00 PM, which makes it convenient for an early breakfast before a full day of exploring Ayutthaya's archaeological sites. The central location is accessible on foot or by tuk-tuk from the main historical attractions. Arriving slightly before or after the midday rush is advisable during peak tourist season, as the intimate size of the space means it can fill quickly. Check their Facebook page for any updates to hours or menu offerings before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
Really cool little place, with cool decoration/design and very friendly service. We both had the Pad Thai, good portions and good flavors! I had the chicken version and my girlfriend had the river prawn version, but she wasn’t a fan of the river prawns unfortunately. My banana smoothie was really nice and the lychee soda too, but very sweet, maybe a bit too sweet. With the bill we got 2 home made cookies 😊
Really delicious food in a very nice and cozy setting. Pineapple fried rice was so tasty! And wow the river prawns 👏🏻 the staff was also very kind and welcoming, and they explained very well the sizing/pricing of the prawns.
Great athmosphere and food. Service was excellent with big smiles all around which was way better than the treatment we got from Sakunya Somtum just a few blocks away.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
