PRANG VIEW
Positioned on Thanon Naresuan in central Ayutthaya, this cafe-restaurant sits directly beside Wat Mahathat, offering unobstructed views of the ancient prangs that define the city's historic skyline. The combination of open-air seating, a riverside breeze, and proximity to one of Ayutthaya's most visited temple complexes makes it a natural stopping point for travellers mid-sightseeing. The menu blends cafe fare with Thai cuisine, leaning into desserts and specialty drinks alongside more substantial dishes. Standout items noted by visitors include Thai tea shaved ice, cotton candy iced lattes served in glass containers with oat milk as an option, and traditional Thai-style desserts. The atmosphere is relaxed rather than rushed, and the friendly, welcoming approach from the owner and staff adds to the unhurried feel. The setting rewards those who linger rather than those looking for a quick refuel. Good to know: Prang View opens daily from 9am to 8pm, making it practical for everything from a morning coffee before the temples get busy to a late-afternoon rest after a full day of sightseeing. Visitors arriving between roughly 2pm and 4pm typically find it quieter, sitting between the main meal rushes. Pricing is mid-range, which some visitors consider slightly above average for the style of food on offer, so it is worth factoring into the day's budget. Those visiting Wat Mahathat will find it immediately convenient, as the two are within easy walking distance of each other.

2025.9.28 is my second time coming to this shop because of Apo and Butter Bear!(When the Tourism Authority of Thailand had just released the promotional video about Apo and Butter Bear last year, my friend and I had already done our little fan pilgrimage here☝🏻) I ordered the same dishes they had — the desserts are absolutely delicious! The lady owner is super friendly(,,・ω・,,) When I showed her the photo of P'Apo and Nong Noey while ordering, she immediately smiled knowingly. After I finished eating, she invited me to take photos and even guided me on how to pose! She’s clearly very familiar with Apo and Nong Noey’s poses when didn't look at pictures! Oh , Ms.boss's photography skills are incredible — and wow, sunlight really makes people look ethereal!! She took so many photos of me that I never imagined I could look that radiant! But I’m shy, so I won’t post too many of them 555 hahaha. Dear owner lady is just so adorable — she even took photos compared with me🥹The lovely staff girls also patiently took photos for me. Ayutthaya and PRANG VIEW truly make me feel so relaxed and delighted — I’ll come back again and again, countless times!
🌿✨ If you’re looking for a place where good food meets historic charm, this spot is a must. Loved the flavorful Thai dishes, the calm riverside breeze, and that stunning prang view that makes every bite feel extra special. 😍 Perfect for sunset dining, chill lunch dates, or just treating yourself after temple hopping. Definitely one of Ayutthaya’s gems — good food, great ambiance, unforgettable view. 💯 #PrangViewAyutthaya #AyutthayaFoodTrip #ThaiFoodLovers #EatInAyutthaya #FoodWithAView #ThailandEats
Twas such a nice time eating desserts and coffee here. We got to try some good thai type desserts. One of our favorites being the thai tea shaved ice. Everything was delicious! And the owner was super nice!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
