Baan PloenView Restaurant
Perched along the banks of the river on Thanon Uthong in Ayutthaya's Pratuchai area, this Thai restaurant draws both locals and visiting travellers with its combination of fresh, flavourful food and an unhurried waterside setting. The location makes it a natural stop when exploring the nearby UNESCO World Heritage temples and ruins of the ancient capital. Diners can choose between outdoor seating with open river views or an air-conditioned indoor area, giving the restaurant appeal across different weather conditions and preferences. The menu leans into classic Thai cooking with standout dishes including fried fish cakes and grilled river shrimp, both frequently praised in visitor reviews. Attentive, thoughtful service adds to the experience — staff have been noted for small gestures of hospitality that leave a strong impression, particularly on first-time visitors. The restaurant also offers ample on-site parking, which is a practical advantage when arriving by car after a day of temple touring. Good to know: Opening hours are not listed online, so it is worth checking locally or asking at your accommodation before making the trip, especially outside peak tourist season. The outdoor seating area is best enjoyed in the cooler morning or evening hours, as midday heat along the river can be intense. The restaurant appears accessible without a reservation for most visits, though calling ahead during busy holiday weekends is a sensible precaution.

Visitor Reviews
I went to this restaurant yesterday and really liked it! The staff were super nice. One of them noticed I had put my bag on the floor and immediately brought over a small chair for it. The food took a while, but I understand since there were a lot of customers but It was definitely worth the wait — everything was super delicious! If you want to sit in the air-conditioned room, I recommend making a reservation. I’ll definitely come back again!! 💕💕
We are from Singapore. Everything is more than excellent. Very fresh food. Good environment. Will recommend to friends to come and try. Is must to try.
Nice restaurant with beautiful view at the riverside. Food is delicious with flavor. They have both the outdoor and indoor with air conditioning.
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
