Red Jazz By Dang Fantastic
Tucked along Kotchasarn Road in the Chang Khlan area of Chiang Mai, this intimate bar and live music venue has built a loyal following around a single standout reason to visit: the performer known as Dang. Regulars return trip after trip, drawn by a voice that cuts across genres with ease and a setlist that keeps the room engaged from the first note to the last. The vibe is mellow and sociable, making it a natural fit for a relaxed evening out with friends or a low-key date night. Visitors can expect cold drinks, reasonably priced food, and a covers-focused set that leans into jazz while wandering comfortably into other genres. The atmosphere is laid-back rather than loud, closer to a chill listening bar than a high-energy club. One recurring note from guests is that the drinks menu runs to beer and wine rather than cocktails, so those after a more elaborate drink selection may want to set expectations accordingly. As a small, well-regarded live music spot, Red Jazz By Dang Fantastic tends to draw an appreciative crowd, so arriving early is a sensible move to secure a good seat. Opening hours are not confirmed online, and there is no website to check in advance, so calling ahead or asking at your accommodation is the practical way to plan a visit.

Visitor Reviews
My wife and I always visit Dang when we are in Chiang Mai and he always makes it worthwhile. Such a fun show and such a wide range of songs, not to mention a voice that can cover any genre. Dang is a rare performer and a warm person, visit if you can.
Best live Jazz in Chiangmai. Khun Daeng was exceptionally FANTASTIC !! Drinks and food are reasonable great place to chill with good friends. ❤️❤️❤️
Pretty darn good music, all covers. Mellow. Beer and wine, wish they had cocktails - would have been perfect!

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
