Siri Wattana Market
Siri Wattana Market is one of Chiang Mai's most active daily markets, drawing both locals and visitors to its covered stalls along Thanon Changhuak in the Chang Phueak neighbourhood, roughly 15 minutes north of the Old City. Open seven days a week from early morning until evening, it operates as a genuine neighbourhood market where the full breadth of northern Thai food culture is on display. Shoppers will find an extensive selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and meats alongside prepared foods, snacks, clothing, and household goods. The market is particularly noted for its variety of ready-to-eat Thai specialities, from home-cooked curries and stir-fries to fresh fruit smoothies and traditional sweets. Standout stalls include a vendor dedicated solely to crispy roasted pork, a detail that repeat visitors single out by name. The atmosphere is lively and compact, with narrow walkways that fill quickly, especially during peak hours. Practically speaking, arriving earlier in the day gives access to the freshest produce and a quieter shopping experience before crowds build. The market is predominantly cash-based, so carrying Thai baht is advisable. Visitors with dietary curiosity are encouraged to take their time, as the sheer variety of unfamiliar spices, fruits, and prepared dishes rewards unhurried exploration. Bringing a cooler bag is a practical tip for those hoping to take perishable purchases home.

Visitor Reviews
A very nice open air outdoor market, fresh vegetables, fruits and any other foods you desire. A wide selection of home-cooked foods that are all very delicious. Manny stands for fresh fruits smoothies. Numerous eatery with great foods to choose. Around the market there are clothing, stores, cosmetic stores, bed, linen stores. Open every day, seven days a week early morning to early evening hours.
Great local market! Clean, affordable, and with a very good variety. You’ll find fresh fruits, snacks, clothing, and plenty of street food. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Located about 15 minutes north of the North Gate, so it’s not too crowded. There’s a public restroom for 2 Baht, and right next to the market there’s a covered area with food stalls and seating. Highly recommended.
Perfect market to learn Thai specialities. Variety is outrageous, it would take more than a year to learn all spices, fruits, vegetables and sweet. Make sure to bring a cooling with you so can bring home the freshly prepared dishes

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
