Ayutthaya Central Agricultural Market
This working agricultural market in Han Tra is a genuine local institution rather than a tourist attraction, and that authenticity is its main draw. It is particularly well known among visitors for its exceptional selection of fresh river prawns and seafood — a speciality that reflects Ayutthaya's riverside location. Vendors sell live fish, prawns, and other seafood alongside fresh produce, prepared snacks, traditional sweets, and regional treats such as Roti Sai Mai, the spun-sugar confection closely associated with Ayutthaya. A number of on-site restaurants will cook freshly selected seafood to order, making it possible to turn a market browse into a full meal. The atmosphere is bustling and sensory — crowded stalls, aromatic food, and the activity of a market serving everyday local needs. Weekends draw larger crowds, while weekdays offer a quieter, more relaxed experience. The market runs every day from 06:00 to 18:00, giving travellers flexibility to visit at different points in their itinerary. Good to know: Arriving earlier in the day means better seafood selection and cooler temperatures, though the market remains active through the afternoon. Parking is available around the market, making it accessible for those travelling by car or hired vehicle. Bring cash in small denominations, as card payments are unlikely to be widely accepted. This market pairs well with a morning visit to Ayutthaya's historic temples, offering a practical contrast between the city's ancient heritage and its everyday local life.

Visitor Reviews
Nice local market with lots stalls freshly made snacks, sweets, kannom, fruits & local specialty, Roti Sai Mai over the entrance. Ambience was good. We went at around 6pm which was crowded but the market seems like closing at around 8pm. We came to this market for fresh river prawns, Kung Mae Nam as googled this is a place with lots of choices but surprisingly found the outside area have quite a lot to buy. I think this place is good to go if you want rather local and inexpensive seafood
This is a very great market to visit. It has a lot of seafood, shrimp, fish, anything barbecued. You can also buy desserts to souvenirs. The restaurants are great. The one we went to was absolutely delicious. Mostly food though. Highly recommend visiting this place.
Seafood and shrimp market in this area. Crowned during weekend but on weekday is quiet. Parking are available around its market.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
