Ton Sai Waterfall
Ton Sai Waterfall is a natural park and tourist attraction in Thalang District, offering visitors a quieter, more untouched side of Phuket away from its coastal crowds. The main draw is less the waterfall itself — which can underwhelm, particularly in the dry season when water flow is reduced — and more the surrounding rainforest, where several marked nature trails wind through dense tropical vegetation. Informational signage along the paths covers local flora and fauna, adding an educational element to the walk. A guided hike connecting Ton Sai to nearby Bang Tao Waterfall is also available for those wanting a longer outing. Visitors can expect a hot, humid experience with uneven terrain and trails that are not always clearly marked. The atmosphere is genuinely natural and relatively undeveloped, which appeals to travellers seeking an authentic jungle experience rather than a polished tourist attraction. Three trails of varying lengths are available, with the longest running approximately two kilometres. Good to know: A 200 THB entrance fee applies for foreign visitors. During the dry season (roughly November to April), water levels drop significantly and pumps are sometimes used to supplement the waterfall flow — worth bearing in mind when setting expectations. Some trails may be closed without prior notice, so it is worth confirming access on arrival. Wear comfortable shoes with grip, bring water, and visit in the morning to avoid peak heat. There are no on-site facilities or vendors, so come fully prepared.

Visitor Reviews
Waterfall didn’t feel that tremendous, but we loved the fact that there were a couple of nature trails throughout the rainforest. There were lots of signs with facts about the nature, the termites, the waterfall itself. To conclude, we enjoyed our little trip! Also, we paid 200 baht per person, but that includes a free entry to another waterfall - “Bang Pae”. Kind lady told us our ticket is relevant for 2 more days, but we went on the third day - and they let us in anyways 🤲🏻🤍
We had a guided hike through from tonsai waterfall to bangtao waterfall. Great hike, very hot and humid.. wastes a few hours away from the hustle and bustle.
Dry season, had a good walk, paths could be made visible in better ways, but it is one of the more untouched experiences. Rain forest vibes 👌
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
