Ton Sai Waterfall

4.1(1,171 reviews)

Tucked into the interior of Thalang District, this natural park offers a quieter, more untouched side of Phuket that contrasts sharply with the island's coastal bustle. The waterfall itself is a secondary draw — the real appeal lies in the surrounding rainforest, where several marked nature trails wind through dense tropical vegetation. Informational signage along the paths covers local flora and fauna, giving the walk an educational dimension alongside its natural charm. For those wanting a longer outing, a guided hike connecting the site to nearby Bang Tao Waterfall is available and well regarded by visitors. The atmosphere is genuinely undeveloped, which suits travellers seeking an authentic jungle experience over a polished attraction. Trails are uneven and not always clearly signposted, and the heat and humidity are a constant presence. Three trails of varying lengths are on offer, with the longest running approximately two kilometres. Be aware that individual trails can be closed without prior notice, so it is worth confirming access on arrival. Good to know: A 200 THB entrance fee applies for foreign visitors. During the dry season, roughly November to April, water levels drop significantly and pumps are sometimes used to supplement the waterfall flow — worth bearing in mind when setting expectations. There are no on-site facilities or vendors, so visitors should arrive with water and anything else they need. Wear shoes with a good grip, and plan to visit in the morning to make the most of cooler temperatures.

Visitor Reviews

Waterfall didn’t feel that tremendous, but we loved the fact that there were a couple of nature trails throughout the rainforest. There were lots of signs with facts about the nature, the termites, the waterfall itself. To conclude, we enjoyed our little trip! Also, we paid 200 baht per person, but that includes a free entry to another waterfall - “Bang Pae”. Kind lady told us our ticket is relevant for 2 more days, but we went on the third day - and they let us in anyways 🤲🏻🤍

We had a guided hike through from tonsai waterfall to bangtao waterfall. Great hike, very hot and humid.. wastes a few hours away from the hustle and bustle.

Dry season, had a good walk, paths could be made visible in better ways, but it is one of the more untouched experiences. Rain forest vibes 👌

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
