BrassWok Thai Cooking Class
BrassWok Thai Cooking Class offers an immersive introduction to authentic Thai cuisine on the island of Phuket, led by Chef Pui — a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor who has earned consistent praise for her thorough teaching style and genuine passion for Thai food. Classes cover a range of traditional dishes, with past participants cooking recipes such as Larb, Steamed Fish, and Pad Kee Mao in a clean, modern kitchen environment designed to make the experience accessible for all skill levels. One of the standout features is the optional market visit, where participants are guided through sourcing fresh ingredients, learning to identify local produce, meats, and pantry staples used in everyday Thai cooking. This addition transforms the class from a simple cooking lesson into a broader cultural experience, giving travellers a practical understanding of Thai food from market stall to finished dish. Classes can accommodate small groups, and some visitors have enjoyed the experience as an intimate private session, making it well suited to couples and small travel parties. Given its popularity, booking in advance through the BrassWok website is strongly recommended, particularly during the peak tourism season. The school is located in the Si Sunthon area of Thalang district in northern Phuket, making it convenient for those staying in that part of the island.

Visitor Reviews
My husband and I were fortunate enough to have a great class with Chef Pui! It ended up being just the two of us and we cooked through four amazing dishes including Larb, Steamed Fish, Pad Kea Mao and a fresh red curry. She also brewed us some beautiful and refreshing Butterfly Pea tea with flowers directly from her garden. We are pretty frequent home cooks and found her instructions easy to follow, fun and interesting. We learned new flavors and new skills that we’ll take home and apply in our kitchen. Chef Pui herself is a delightful person to spend time with; she is easy to talk to, has a good sense of humor and clearly knows what she’s doing in the kitchen. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone traveling in Phuket!
Absolutely amazing experience with the wonderful Khun Pui and staff. I highly recommend the market experience where you’ll learn how to shop for your ingredients and also discover new produce, meats, seafood and snacks. Khun Pui shared so much with us including a tour of her small garden as well as her kitchen tools and favorite places to try Thai delicacies in Phuket. Our package included the group class (only 2 of us) with transportation pick up, market visit, historical explanation of the 4 dishes we got to choose and in the end were well packed for take away for dinner.
We had the BEST time with chef pui today. She’s so thorough, responsive and we really felt like pui was so passionate about her livelihood. The trip to the market was fascinating and interactive. All the food we made was so delicious and we’ll definitely try to recreate this at home. Well worth the pricing and we had such a genuine and informative experience. Thanks pui- you’re an angel!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
