Pai Seedlings Foundation
Nestled in the hills near Pai, the Pai Seedlings Foundation is a working farm and non-profit organisation dedicated to regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and sustainable living. The foundation actively supports local farmers in northern Thailand while running hands-on programs that connect visitors and volunteers with organic farming practices, biochar production, and beekeeping. It stands apart from Pai's more tourism-focused attractions by offering something genuinely purposeful and grounded. Visitors can expect a peaceful, community-oriented atmosphere that is a clear contrast to the busier backpacker scene in town. The foundation welcomes volunteers, interns, and curious travellers alike, with experiences ranging from short visits to multi-day stays. A beekeeping and lunch experience has drawn particular praise from visitors, and the farm's work with bees and sustainable land management gives the visit real educational depth. Those with a background or interest in agriculture, environmental science, or sustainable development will find the experience especially rewarding. As a foundation rather than a commercial tourism operator, visits here are best suited to those willing to engage meaningfully rather than pass through quickly. Opening hours and availability are not publicly listed, so reaching out in advance is strongly recommended before making the trip. The farm is located in Tambon Wiang Nuea, a short distance from central Pai, and is worth planning around rather than treating as a spontaneous stop.

Visitor Reviews
Awesome place to be if you want peace and harmony from the party Pai scenes. Amazing what the owner did to make the place a perma-culture farming and sustainable living. Definitely we will be back again!!
I had the opportunity to intern at Pai Seedlings Foundation, and it was a deeply enriching experience for me as a student in agriculture. My time there exposed me to organic farming practices, permaculture principles, and holistic approaches to sustainable agriculture, which helped me see farming beyond just production and more as a balanced, living system. Moreover, I learned a lot about sustainable farming practices, while also helping me understand the role of community-oriented agricultural work. Lyse and Damien were very supportive and generous with their knowledge along with other international volunteers. They encouraged discussion, hands-on learning, and critical thinking, making the internship both practical and reflective. The environment was welcoming and purpose-driven, and I always felt that learning and sustainability were at the core of everything they did. This internship strengthened my appreciation for organic agriculture and reinforced my commitment to pursuing a career in sustainable and community-oriented farming. I’m very grateful for the experience and would highly recommend Pai Seedlings Foundation to students and anyone interested in permaculture and sustainable agriculture. To make it short, I felt very welcome during my time in Pai.
Visiting Seedlings in Pai was a beautiful and meaningful experience. It was inspiring to learn about their work supporting local farmers, organic agriculture, and regenerative farming practices in northern Thailand. You can really feel the positive impact they’re having on families, land, and communities. During our visit, we planted seeds, watered flowers, harvested papayas, and worked together in a very hands-on and joyful way. It felt simple, playful, and deeply grounding. Moona and Lyse guided us through the farm and shared clearly and generously about the project, its vision, and how it supports farmers across the region. It’s inspiring to connect with others who share similar values; regenerating land, cooperating with nature, and living in alignment with the earth, and to experience how this actions can contribute to a healthier future. We also shared a lovely meal, connected with other visitors, and felt very welcomed by the team. Seedlings doesn’t just run a farm, they help farmers sell their products at local markets and support farm stays in the Pai area as well. I also visited one of the farm stays and highly recommend that too. Thank you guys :D
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
