Floating Pier (East Railay)
Situated on the eastern side of Railay Beach, this floating pier functions as the primary transport and tour hub for water-based travel across the Andaman Sea. Boats depart regularly for Ao Nang at around 100 baht per person, with connections also available to more distant destinations including Phi Phi Island via speedboat. Long-tail boat operators based here offer private island tours, with four-island afternoon excursions among the popular options. The backdrop of limestone cliffs and cave formations makes the pier itself a visually striking place to wait or board. The atmosphere is busy and functional rather than leisurely, with multiple boat operators working the pier throughout the day. Travellers passing through will find it straightforward to arrange onward transport or book tours directly with operators on site. A tractor — reportedly a memorable sight in its own right — assists with luggage and movement along the pier area. Good to know: Boats heading to Ao Nang drop passengers at Ao Nam Mao pier, which has a proper landing so arrivals can disembark without getting wet — worth factoring in when choosing a return route. Reaching Railay itself requires arriving by boat from Ao Nang or via a rocky coastal route from neighbouring beaches, as there is no road access. Arriving earlier in the day generally means more departure options and less congestion at the pier.

Visitor Reviews
Took a private long-tail boat afternoon tour to 4 islands. It was the best scenic view ever, boatman “Sun” is knowledgeable, even with little English, his boating skills was excellent. He knew the scenic spots to take photographs and took only 2.5 hours instead of joining group tours 4 hours to complete the 4 islands. Took very good care of me. This is probably the reason to Krabi. The beautiful scenery.
A nice and long pier. A lot of boats drop here. Can see a beautiful view of the cave and mountain nearby this area.
The Railay pier has great connections to most nearby islands. We went from here to Phi Phi by way of speedboat.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
