Kawin's Kitchen

4.7(1,593 reviews)$$$$

Tucked away in Tambon Maret on Koh Samui, this well-regarded Thai restaurant draws visitors and locals alike with its beautifully decorated interior, warm atmosphere, and a menu rooted in authentic Thai cooking. Alongside classic Thai staples, the kitchen caters to a range of dietary preferences, offering vegan, vegetarian, and fusion options that make it accessible to most dining groups. Standout dishes from visitor accounts include deep fried fish with green curry, ginger and garlic prawns, papaya salad, and deep fried pork — flavours that consistently draw praise for their depth and authenticity. The setting is a notable part of the experience. Guests regularly highlight the cosy, relaxed ambiance and the attentive staff who are known for making helpful menu recommendations. It works equally well as a casual lunch stop or a longer evening meal, with the kitchen open until 10:00 PM daily. At a budget price point, it offers strong value for the quality of food and atmosphere on offer. Good to know: Kawin's Kitchen is open seven days a week, with most days starting at 11:00 AM and Friday opening slightly later at noon. The restaurant can get busy during peak tourist season, so arriving early or during off-peak lunch hours — as one visitor noted on a quiet Thursday afternoon — can mean faster service. Booking ahead or checking current details via the website at kawinskitchen.net is advisable for larger groups.

Visitor Reviews

This Thai restaurant is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is incredibly pleasant and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a great meal. The ambiance is warm, cozy, and beautifully designed, instantly putting you in a calm, holiday-like mood. The food is simply outstanding – full of authentic flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was delicious and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Friendly staff, amazing food, and a super relaxing vibe – definitely a place I’ll come back to and highly recommend to anyone who loves Thai cuisine.

Kawin’s Kitchen is easily one of the best restaurants on Ko Samui. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the staff are so friendly and made excellent recommendations. They have incredible seafood and really good vegetarian options too. The vegetarian Tom Tum soup was delicious and the Seafood Massamam curry were particular highlights.

Great spot! Amazing food great service. My young son had the vegetable rice which was great, I had ginger and garlic prawns they were amazing and my wife had a curry. All three dishes were delicious and the service was very attentive. A little higher priced then other places but will be back for sure

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
